Is Trump Going to Call Gorsuch a Liar Next?
There is an old African-American saying: only the truth hurts. This is why Trump is as usual in all kinds of pain. Of course, he’s attacking the messenger:
“President Donald Trump attacked the military record of Sen. Richard Blumenthal Thursday morning, suggesting that the Connecticut lawmaker misrepresented his conversation with Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch as he did with his service in the Marine Corps Reserves.”
“Trump appeared to be responding to media stories published Wednesday night, in which Blumenthal (D-Ct.) relayed some of his conversation with Gorsuch. The senator said Gorsuch called Trump’s regular criticisms of the federal judiciary “disheartening” and “demoralizing,” comments that were confirmed by others present for the conversation.”
Trump is up to the usual bait and switch-make something Blumenthal said back in 2010 during a Senate race about his Vietnam service the issue rather than what Gorsuch said to Blumenthal, in recent private conversation. But if Trump is saying that
1. Blumenthal lied in 2010 about his Vietnam service
2. If someone lies about one thing they lie about anything
then we shouldn’t believe anything Trump says, and we shouldn’t.
And not that it’s relevant but Blumenthal certainly did more for his country during Vietnam than Donald Trump did-Trump did nothing for it. Kind of like what he’s paid in taxes since 1977.
Anyway, the issue about Blumenthal is moot because Gorsuch is now verifying his version of events.
“A Gorsuch spokesman confirmed the comments were made.”
Yep. Only the truth hurts. So what is Trump going to do now? Call his own Supreme Court nominee a liar? Will he withdraw his nomination?
Again, even if Blumenthal did exaggerate his Vietnam service he did a heck of a lot more than Trump did. But then, that’s Trump’s MO: attacking those who did serve their country while he’s never served anyone but himself.
Case in point, he’s attacking someone who did what is almost incomprehensible for his country, John McCain:
“President Donald Trump revived his feud with John McCain on Thursday morning, tweeting that the Arizona senator “doesn’t know how to win anymore” and shouldn’t have called a U.S. raid in Yemen a failure.”
“Sen. McCain should not be talking about the success or failure of a mission to the media. Only emboldens the enemy! He’s been losing so long he doesn’t know how to win anymore,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets Thursday morning. “Just look at the mess our country is in – bogged down in conflict all over the place. Our hero Ryan died on a winning mission ( according to General Mattis), not a ‘failure.’ Time for the U.S. to get smart and start winning again!”
Yes, it was such a success, Yemen has now banned us from the country and will no longer engage in any joint military actions with us. It was a disaster and if Hillary Clinton presided over it, there would be hearings on it every day for the rest of her time in office.
Again, only the truth hurts. Maybe that’s why Trump lies so much.
