More Proof That the Steele Dossier on Trump’s Russia Ties is Highly Credible
This is something that the Guardian’s Louise Mensch has been on like white on rice. Because something is ‘unverified’ in the parlance of the intelligence agencies hardly makes it junk. Unverified is not ‘proven false.’ Indeed, after the dossier was initially published by Buzzfeed, I argued what’s notable is not that no on is saying it’s true but that no one is saying it’s false.
But Ms. Mensch with a real background in this has been warning all along about dismissing this dossier.
“When the Steele dossier was published by Buzzfeed, with an entirely appropriate amount of caveats, other journalistic outlets rushed to pour cold water on it, and wrongly so.”
“Chief among these was CNN. Acting as if Buzzfeed had not offered caveats alongside the publication, CNN blasted the news site as though they had irresponsibly published ‘fake news’.”
“In fact, the credibility of Chris Steele was sky-high in the intelligence community, and the heads of all three agencies had included his dossier as an addendum to the Russian hacking report they produced for the President (Obama, at the time; but Trump was also given a version of it).”
“One bit of journalistic malfeasance committed by CNN was that they rubbished the dossier’s claims on Michael Cohen without doing independent journalistic research of their own”.
“I took as my starting point the idea that the Steele dossier should be believed and would be for the most part correct; and that it was more likely to be right than wrong. The reason I took this attitude is that all three heads of US intelligence agencies had included Steele’s dossier as an adjunct to their report to the President.”
If you really want to know what’s going on in with Trump-Russia and you have never read Ms. Mensch before I recommend very highly that you do. She has been blue in the face on this point that the working assumption should be that the dossier is true-as the intel agencies clearly put great stock in it.
Again, I’d recommend reading the whole thing and reading her regularly as she has a lot of great information. She talks to some of the right people and does the research. As she goes into great detail showing the the piece, Michael Steele’s denials ‘I’ve never been to Prague; here’s my passport’ were not worth much; even if you discount the fact that he certainly did go to Prague in 2004, for starters.
She’s also talked a great deal about-in the above linked piece and on Twitter-about the fact that Anthony Weiner was hacked by the Russians. Here she is on Twitter again a couple of minutes ago.
I remind everybody for the 25 millionth time the FBI had Yvgeny Nikulin picked up on a charge of hacking Formspring (Weiner) Oct 5th pic.twitter.com/rI9QzMCQfG

Indeed, there is no doubt that if there was no Comey letter Hillary Clinton would be President. And the road to the Comey Letter was-Anthony Weiner, who clearly was setup.
This piece-totally independent of Ms. Mensch and the Guardian argued that Anthony Weiner was setup, It was a classic honeytrap operation.
As the author-Robert Hetzel-warns: never underestimate Roger Stone.
“It should be noted that the takeout of Spitzer was led by Roger Stone, who just so happens to be very close to Donald Trump and close to The New York Post. The Post led the way in the reporting of the Spitzer scandal. Roger is a master, never underestimate Roger.”
“When asking Roger Stone about his Russian ties-as a future Democratic lead Congressional Committee must do, they ought to ask him about Yvgeny Nikulin.”
“If your one of these souls who likes coincidences and presumes everything is a coincidence, you’re sure going to love this one. Ygeny Nikulin just happens to have been apprehended by the FBI in: Prague.”
Which brings us to a new headline that certainly seems to vindicate Louise Mensch. The FBI was considering paying former British intelligence man Christopher Steele to continue his work. Steele is now in hiding-in another coincidence I’m sure.
“The former British spy who authored a controversial dossier on behalf of Donald Trump’s political opponents alleging ties between Trump and Russia reached an agreement with the FBI a few weeks before the election for the bureau to pay him to continue his work, according to several people familiar with the arrangement.”
“The agreement to compensate former MI6 agent Christopher Steele came as U.S. intelligence agencies reached a consensus that the Russians had interfered in the presidential election by orchestrating hacks of Democratic Party email accounts.”
“While Trump has derided the dossier as “fake news” compiled by his political opponents, the FBI’s arrangement with Steele shows that bureau investigators considered him credible and found his line of inquiry to be worthy of pursuit.”
Obviously the dossier is not junk. And we need to talk a whole lot more about Prague and Michael Cohen-who just happened to be the lawyer who hand delivered the ‘Russia-Ukraine peace plan’ to Michael Flynn.
You know that was a great deal. Either Russia gets Crimea for 50 years or 100 years.
All just another series of coincidinks.
