Roger Stone: ‘Guccifer 2.0 is a She’
As I argued in an earlier peace this morning, Sean Spicer made a big mistake insulting Stone as a ‘hanger on.’ Since then, Stone has been all over the media. Which can’t be a good thing for Trump.
Truthfully, it’s probably not a good thing for Stone either, but his vanity and ego are on the line. He has to prove what a big shot he is. In many ways, Stone is sort of a political spook. Trouble is spooks do their work behind the scenes. Stone does this, but he also has a need to strut. This led him to last year claim at a Florida rally to having communicated with Julian Assange.
Stone says ‘They have no proof’ which is quite different than ‘I am innocent.’
“Roger Stone says he’s apologized to Paul Manafort for getting him involved in all the inquiries about possible Russian connections to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.”
“But Stone says he hasn’t apologized for anything he’s done himself—not to Trump, and not to anyone else. There’s nothing to apologize for, in his mind, including when he said during an appearance before Florida’s South Broward Republicans last August, when asked what he thought the October surprise would be, “I actually have communicated with [Julian] Assange.”
“I was referring to what I—I mean, through the intermediary, which I see the headlines. No, I didn’t admit that. I announced it. I didn’t admit it. I announced it. It is not illegal and it was not direct, as I’ve said a dozen times,” Stone told me, in the latest episode of POLITICO’s “Off Message” podcast. “I didn’t misspeak. This covers the question of communication through an intermediary.”
Sure. Somehow ‘I actually have communicated with Julian Assange’ means something different than he’s communicated with him.
“Stone revealed a little more about the mutual friend he claims was filling him in on Assange: an American journalist, based in America, whom he’s known for years, and who visited London sometime between August and October last year. Stone at first wouldn’t say whether this person was a man or a woman, but in conversation repeatedly referred to “he” in describing how he got the information.”
“This is actually something of a blind spot with Stone-he has a tendency to give up the gender of the person who’s identity he is trying to conceal. He has time and again referred to his intermediary with Assange as ‘he’-which leads me to surmise: Sean Hannity?”
We know Hannity has met with Assange personally, many times.
Again, though, gender tends to trip Stone up. He did it again with Guccifer 2.0 on George Stephanopoulos on Sunday morning.
“Donald Trump’s former campaign adviser and longtime personal friend Roger Stone has recently admitted that he had contact with Russian hacker Guccifer 2.0 during the the election – the same hacker who stole and released Democratic Party emails. But Stone still insists that the contact was limited and benign, and that he doesn’t even really know who the hacker is. However, Stone just slipped up and revealed a personal detail about the hacker that could only be known by someone who knows the hacker well.”
“During an on-air interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Roger Stone said the following: “Let’s finish with Grucifer. My communication with her is now entirely public.” Oops. Nevermind the fact that Stone referred to Guccifer as Grucifer; he’s made that mistake before, and that’s not the point. It’s what he said directly afterward. Stone referred to Guccifer as “her.”
“And that’s a problem for Stone, because up to now he’s insisted that he’s only received a few incidental Twitter direct messages from Guccifer and that he has had no substantive contact. But there is no way that Stone could have known Guccifer is a woman unless he’s had the kind of personal conversations with her via Twitter direct messaging where that kind of detail would be shared, or he’s Facebook friends with her and saw her profile picture, or he’s had a video chat with her, or he’s met her in person, or social interaction along those lines.”
As for this talk of a banal conversation, it’s a total canard.
It was not at all banal. Look at what Guccifer 2.0 tweeted out on November 5

I call on other hackers to monitor the elections from inside the system

Guccifer 2.0 claims to be inside the system as of this tweet. In other words, she-as we now know it’s a she-hacked into the system and was calling on other hackers to do the same. This was after Roger Stone in their DM messages asked her to RT a Breitbart piece he wrote claiming the election would be ‘rigged’ against Trump.
But Stone really spilt the beans here in confessing Guccifer 2.0 is a girl. This is news. In July she’d claimed to be a Rumanian male hacker.
“You asked me several times if I’m a man or a woman. I’m a man. I’ve never met a female hacker of the highest level. Girls, don’t get offended, I love you.”
So evidently, Guccifer 2.0 cleverly played on sexism to mislead us to her gender. Wonder what she thought when she saw Stone screw up her ruse by blurting the truth? Stone’s downfall is going to be he needs to strut. And his downfall will be Trump’s. Yet, Stone says they still talk regularly ‘via memos.’
By the way, Guccifer 2.0 also hacked the DCCC and published all kinds of oppo research and intelligence on the DCCC workings in different states.
I ask again as I’ve asked before: how do we know Russia didn’t hack the electronic voting machines which are very susceptible to hacking and which Guccifer 2.0 had claimed to have hacked on November 5?
Interestingly, Stone himself said as much before the election:
Republican strategist, lobbyist, and Donald Trump confidante Roger Stone joined Breitbart‘s Milo Yiannopoulos on the latest episode of the Milo Yiannopoulos Show to discuss voter fraud and how Trump has the ability to beat it.
“I think your audience knows, I think we all know, that in this day and age, a computer can do anything. These voter machines are essentially a computer. Who is to say they could not be rigged?” asked Stone on the topic of voter fraud.
So he talked about them being rigged but acted as if the Democrats would rig it. But it was Stone and Trump who had Guccifer 2.0 inside the system calling on other hackers to do the same.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will
