Donald Trump Just Threatened James Comey
We have to admit it: Trump’s Wag the Dog strategy has in the short term had some success. This is also a concern to our intelligence community who are appalled with how Trump manipulated intelligence to conduct that very rash Syria strike.
As Rachel Maddow pointed out last night, this hasty strike that may have been done for political reasons also has endangered our men and women in uniform. After all, Assad didn’t have a problem with us being in the country previous to the strikes. But now we’re sort of foreign invaders.
True, Assad’s legitimacy is very questionable. But, the practical effect of Trump’s rash action is that our military is no longer under protection. Right after the strike there was an attack on us from ISIS. Point is, our men and women are now big targets. Even if Trump in no way further changes US policy in Syria, it’s already had a major-negative-effect.
Still, the media has been diverted. They oohed and aahed over Trump’s reading a conventional speech about NATO off of a teleprompter. The narrative short term has been changed. Of course, the Russia-Trump investigation goes on.
So because the media narrative has changed, what Trump said about Comey got much less attention than it should have. It should have been the leading story of the day:

It’s obscene for Trump to talk about ‘having confidence’ in the man who is overseeing his investigation.
“Every day brings a fresh outrage from Donald Trump and his administration, but the latest is especially chilling given the stakes for our country.”
“FBI Director James Comey recently made the bombshell announcement that Donald Trump and his campaign have been under investigation, since last July, for possible coordination with Russia to influence the presidential election.”
“Since then, among other developments, Trump’s White House has engaged in a cover-up with disgraced former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA), and new damning details emerge almost daily.”
“It is in that context that Trump delivered a not-so-veiled threat to Comey. In an interview with Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, Trump said “it’s not too late” to fire Comey, adding that while he has “confidence” in the director, “we’ll see what happens.”
“The expression of “confidence” is evidently contingent on seeing “what happens,” and was followed by Trump saying he wants to give Comey a “fair chance.”
“A “fair chance” to do what is anybody’s guess, but for a president to be talking about firing an FBI director while currently under investigation by that agency is uncharted territory, and could very well constitute an attempt to obstruct or prejudice that investigation. Trump cannot directly fire Comey, but he can instruct Attorney General Jeff Sessions to do so, or simply ask for Comey’s resignation himself.”
Trump’s threat is yet more evidence that we need an independent investigation and a special prosecutor — one whose job Trump cannot publicly threaten

Fair chance to drop the investigation presumably. If Trump were to fire Comey, his Presidency would be over. He also made the outrageous comment that Comey helped Hillary-that otherwise she’d be in jail.
Actually, no. Otherwise she’d be President. If not for Comey’s letter that he shockingly wrote while keeping secret everything he was investigating regarding Trump.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will
