A Sudden Explosion of Chelsea Clinton Derangement Syndrome
I’m noticing this is becoming a thing. There is real concern about hitting her with a preemptive strike now.
“PLEASE, GOD, STOP CHELSEA CLINTON FROM WHATEVER SHE IS DOING”
“The last thing the left needs is the third iteration of a failed political dynasty.”
I’m not sure what makes it failed. Bill won two terms. Hillary unfortunately won’t be POTUS-though she won the popular vote by 3 million and without the Comey letter she wins the whole thing. As it is she’s the first major party Presidential nominee.
This on a career that saw her a NY Senator and then a Secretary of State. That’s ‘failed?’ Her career certainly fell short of her ultimate goal but how does make her ‘failed?’
And it’s also not clear that ‘political dynasties’ always fail. You have the Roosevelts and the Kennedys. Would anyone say the Kennedys had ‘failed’ because Teddy never got to the WH?
FDR is the most progressive President in history which shows it’s not about your own class position but your policies.
The GOP Nixon Checkers Speech version of ‘populism’ misses this.
I have no idea if Chelsea has any intention of running for anything. I’m all for it if she wants to. For no other reason than to royally annoy the Matt Buenig’s of the world.
The knives are clearly out against her already.
“Amid investigations into Russian election interference, perhaps we ought to consider whether the Kremlin, to hurt Democrats, helped put Chelsea Clinton on the cover of Variety. Or maybe superstition explains it. Like tribesmen laying out a sacrifice to placate King Kong, news outlets continue to make offerings to the Clinton gods. In The New York Times alone, Chelsea has starred in multiple features over the past few months: for her tweeting (it’s become “feisty”), for her upcoming book (to be titled She Persisted), and her reading habits (she says she has an “embarrassingly large” collection of books on her Kindle). With Chelsea’s 2015 book, It’s Your World, now out in paperback, the puff pieces in other outlets—Elle, People, etc.—are too numerous to count.”
What is the reason for this hating? I don’t get this narrative that simply having her on a cover is some huge national scandal.
It seems that Chelsea’s big sin is ‘having a high self regard and doing bits on tv where she wasn’t interrupted’
Maybe we should have another GOP House investigation.
“What comes across with Chelsea, for lack of a gentler word, is self-regard of an unusual intensity. And the effect is stronger on paper. Unkind as it is to say, reading anything by Chelsea Clinton—tweets, interviews, books—is best compared to taking in spoonfuls of plain oatmeal that, periodically, conceal a toenail clipping.”
“CChelsea, people were quietly starting to observe, had a tendency to talk a lot, and at length, not least about Chelsea. But you couldn’t interrupt, not even if you’re on TV at NBC, where she was earning $600,000 a year at the time. “When you are with Chelsea, you really need to allow her to finish,” Jay Kernis, one of Clinton’s segment producers at NBC, toldVogue. “She’s not used to being interrupted that way.”
You know who doesn’t talk a lot and lets you interrupt him at will? Donald Trump.
Author T.A. Frank seems to find Chelsea’s very utterance vapid, but in fact, his hypercritical critique is much more vapid than any example he provides. He just don’t like her. There is a substantive take on the issues.
I have no idea if Chelsea is running. I appreciate her coming out of her shell and would encourage her to keep doing it. It often seems that it’s her haters who want her to run just so they can be outraged over it.
The mud in their eye would be enough to root for Chelsea. Besides the fact that I’d love to see her in office if that’s her desire.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
