Why the Media is Really so Exercised About Obama’s Paid Speech
I have written about this already-it’s about Hillary. It kills a Hillary Clinton talking point-that she’s a terrible person for getting paid for a speech.
However, Ruth Marcus has a new column out that couldn’t make this more clear.
Reading this column, I finally get it: Obama getting $$ for speeches makes it harder to assail Hillary. THAT is what's bugging people. https://t.co/xqciw3Rfji

Indeed. HT: Tom Brown.
Ok, so Ruth Marcus-who during the campaign felt that Trump attacking Hillary for her husband’s affairs was ‘fair game.’
“In collecting $400,000 from a Wall Street investment firm to make a single speech, Barack Obama is following in the Gucci-clad footsteps of past presidents. Ronald Reagan landed a $2 million speaking gig in Japan. George W. Bush, on his way out, announced it was time to “replenish the ol’ coffers.” Bill and Hillary Clinton reported making more than $235 million after leaving the White House.”
“But to acknowledge that Obama has plenty of precedent on his side is not to say that his choice is wise. Indeed, it’s unfortunate.”
“Obama’s propulsion onto the lecture circuit arrives at a moment of populist disgust with Wall Street greed and the Washington swamp (can doors revolve in swamps?). It comes after a campaign in which Hillary Clinton’s Goldman Sachs speaking fees became a symbol of entitled elitism. So imagine the powerful message Obama would have sent — the reverse precedent — had he chosen to renounce this road to riches.”
“Or, imagine this, had he chosen to speak publicly, at as many places and on as many topics as he liked. Just not behind closed doors, for an amount equivalent to his White House salary — and seven times what the typical household makes in a year. Such a move would have been understood as an implicit — and well-deserved — rebuke of the Clintons’ compulsive speechifying.”
So Marcus is really angry that she and her fellow Hillary haters in the Beltway press are deprived of throwing more spitballs at the Clintons. Yeah, we all have a little tear in our eye.
She uses the word ‘swamp’ when Trump is the worst offender in US history-he’s making money on the office while in it. But Marcus is still more worried about dancing on Hillary’s grave.
But, my fellow Hillarybots, we should take heart. It proves that Hillary is not dead. She lost-was robbed-but she is not dead. Her example and legacy live on. What kills all the Hillary haters the Trumpsters, the Berners, the Ruth Marcuses and Chris Cillizzass is that the spirit of the woman lives on in all of us. Of course, she’s very much alive in body as well!
When you’re on Twitter, you’re impressed how many of us still believe in Hillary and still love her.
“I’ve done what I could in this space to avoid the subject of Hillary Clinton. I don’t want to be the perennial turd in the punchbowl. I’d hoped we’d finally seen the last of that name in public life — it’s been a long quarter of a century — and that we could all move on. Alas, no. Her daughter (angels and ministers of grace defend us) seems to be positioning herself for a political career. And Clinton herself duly emerged last week for a fawning, rapturous reception at the Women in the World conference in New York City. It simply amazes me the hold this family still has on the Democratic Party — and on liberals in general. The most popular question that came from interviewer Nick Kristof’s social-media outreach, for example, was: “Are you doing okay?” Here’s Michelle Goldberg: “I find myself wondering at odd times of the day and night: How is Hillary? Is she going to be all right?” Seriously, can you imagine anyone wondering the same after Walter Mondale or Michael Dukakis or John Kerry blew elections?”
I love it. I’m totally with Michelle Goldberg-I do the same thing. The toughest part for me after the election was thinking about Hillary, imaging her hurt and pain after a lifetime dream was destroyed by Comey and Russia.
Eat your heart out, Andrew Sullivan, there’s a lot more that came from. Try Twitter sometime. check out some of the hashtags: StillWithHer, AlwaysWithHer, HillaryForever, AmericaChoseHillary. I personally wear this t-shirt: Don’t blame me, I voted for Hillary.

I agree we do feel sorry for her and are outraged by how she was treated. It’s also a damn shame as she would have been a great President.
But this tweet says it all:
Night all. Bug your congress critter night & day. Tweet & call. We want a real investigation. We want justice for Hillary and for America. pic.twitter.com/YZMjZfZczB

Justice for Hillary.
So there are a lot of things going on.
1. We do feel sorry for her. Honestly my heart breaks for her.
2. She would have been a great President and instead we have in her place the biggest joke in our history competing for world history.
3. She only lost because of the outrageous interference of both Russia and our own Hillary hating FBI. The FBI piece, in particular, hasn’t even begun to be told yet.
4. But the cherry on top: that we’re #StillWithHer and will #AlwaysBeWithHer drives the Hilary haters absolutely rabid.
That’s payoff enough. Ruth Marcus, Chris Cillizza, and Anthony Sullivan can all eat their hearts out.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
