Manafort and Roger Stone Turn Over Russia Docs to Senate Committee; Carter Page and Mike Flynn Refuse
Flynn is citing ‘public frenzy’ as an excuse. Obviously he’s very worried about just how much his testimony would incriminate himself.
“The news service obtained a letter sent to the committee blaming Flynn’s decision not to cooperate on the “escalating public frenzy” around the investigation into ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russian officials. The Justice Department’s appointment of a special counsel to oversee the investigation is also mentioned.”
“The letter, sent to the committee by Flynn’s lawyers, says that the former national security advisor is invoking his Fifth Amendment rights and refusing to testify because “any testimony he provides could be used against him,” according to the AP.”
“Earlier Monday, the AP reported that Flynn will refuse to comply with a Senate Intelligence Committee subpoena and will invoke his Fifth Amendment rights.”
Flynn’s testimony will incriminate himself-and Donald Trump. Trump has clearly been panicked about the prospect of Flynn testifying. According to Louise Mensch’s intel sources, Flynn has turned on Trump and already was interviewed by the FBI.
Carter Page is someone else who you imagine is very worried about what he himself stands accused of. He’s been saying some pretty weird things.
Page wrote a bizarre letter to Rosenstein, complaining about Obama and Clinton, and citing Maroon 5 lyrics in the footnotes.

Hillary has not taken responsibility for not campaigning in Wisconsin and Michigan, arrest her!
Stone and Manafort though sent the Senate their Russian docs.
“Two of President Trump’s top campaign aides have handed over documents requested by the Senate Intelligence Committee amid the panel’s probe of Russian election interference, NBC News reported Monday.”
“Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and unofficial Trump adviser Roger Stone provided the information to the Senate committee’s investigators by last Friday’s deadline, the report said.”
“The panel also reportedly sent document requests earlier this month to former Trump policy adviser Carter Page and former national security adviser Michael Flynn.”
“Stone and a spokesman for Manafort confirmed to NBC News that the two of them fulfilled the committee’s request.”
Roger Stone did criticizing Trump sharply on his lovefest with the Saudis.
“Roger Stone On Trump’s Saudi Award: ‘Makes Me Want To Puke’
“Trump “should have demanded Saudis pay for 9/11,” the president’s confidant argued.
My take: don’t make much out of that. Roger Stone should be understood first and foremost as a Nixonian style intelligence agent-his thing is political intelligence.
My best guess on what this is all about is just misdirection: Gee, he couldn’t have coordinated with Russian hackers because he just criticized Trump for taking an award form the Saudis.
Also, let’s not give Stone and Manafort too many brownie points for compliance just yet till we see if they really sent everything.
“The congressional source said it was too early to tell whether the documents from Manafort and Stone suggested they had fully complied with the request. The source added that the NBC News has reported that as part of the FBI’s Russia collusion investigation, federal grand juries have issued subpoenas for records relating to both Flynn and Manafort.”
“Flynn’s assertion of the Fifth Amendment will make it difficult for the Senate to enforce its subpoena, Senate aides told NBC News. The Senate could go to court, or go ask the Justice Department to go to court to enforce it, but either actin would require the Republicans who control the chamber to agree.”
“Meanwhile, Flynn can make an argument that his right against self-incrimination extends even to the production of documents that could hurt him, Senate aides said.”
What did John McCain say? It was ‘every few days another shoe is going to drop.’
More recently he adjusted that to ‘Every day another shoe is going to drop.’
But now it’s more like ‘Every day several shoes will drop.’
Here is that latest shoe from Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan:
“Former CIA Director John Brennan said Tuesday that he personally warned the head of Russia’s intelligence service last year that Moscow’s interference in the U.S. election would backfire and cause severe damage to the country’s relationship with the United States.”
“Describing a previously undisclosed high-level conversation between Washington and Moscow, Brennan said he used a phone conversation with the head of Russia’s domestic security service, the FSB, that “American voters would be outraged by any Russian attempt to interfere in the election.”
“In congressional testimony, Brennan said that such meddling “would destroy any near-term prospect of improvement” in relations between the United States and Russia. Brennan said that the FSB chief, Alexander Bortnikov, twice denied that Russia was waging such a campaign, but said he would carry Brennan’s message to Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
“I believe I was the first U.S. official to brace Russia on this matter,” Brennan said. His remarks came at the start of his testimony before the House Intelligence Committee as part of that panel’s ongoing investigation of a Russian influence campaign in the 2016 U.S. election, as well as whether there was collusion or coordination between Moscow and members of the Trump campaign.”
Tom Clancy died in 2013 and so never got to see this. It might have put him out of business.
Trey Gowdy walks into it:
Wow. Gowdy just walked into it with former CIA Dir. Brennan. Asked about "collusion" and Brennan said there WAS intel worth investigating.

P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
