Thick as Thieves: Major Link in Russia Probe is Felix Sater & Michael Cohen
What’s now emerging is that convicted Russia mobster Felix Sater and Trump’s thuggish lawyer Michael Cohen are thick as thieves. We touched on this in the previous post:
Michael Cohen to House Intelligence Committee: Felix Sater made me do it https://t.co/5mwdDJUKJe

One arresting link from the Moscow Trump Tower deal is to Donald Trump Jr’s Russia meeting of June 2016.
“There was a concept design of the multipronged tower itself, along with a site plan showing precisely where the complex would be located along the river. Moreover it makes clear that the Crocus Group was planning to develop Trump Tower Moscow. Crocus Group belongs to Russian oligarch Aras Agalarov. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he and his son helped organize the summer 2016 meeting in which Kremlin reps promised to give election-altering information to Donald Trump Jr.”
“As Palmer Report reported earlier, Donald Trump’s own tweet from 2013 helps to confirm that Trump and Agalarov were indeed planning to build Trump Tower Moscow together. Now you have to ask yourself if it’s a coincidence that Agalarov went on to set up Trump Jr’s election collusion meeting with the Kremlin while he and Trump Sr were trying to build that tower in Moscow.”
Yes-Agalarov who set up the Donald Jr Russia meeting was also working on the planning of a Trump Tower in Moscow.
At the time, one tactic Trump apologists tried was to claim that Agalarov was somehow too marginal a figure to work with Russian intelligence. That was never compelling as you’d expect Russian intel to use a cutout.
So there is a clear link between the Trump Tower deal in Moscow and the Russia meeting.
However, there is also a link between the Trump Tower project and: the infamous ‘Ukrainian peace plan’ from back in February.
The link is: Felix Sater and Michael Cohen. It turns out they are old pals going back to their teenage years:
“And TPM now has learned from conversations with both Sater and Cohen that the two men know each other dating back to their teenage years, when they were acquaintances from nearby towns on Long Island. Both went on to make their fortunes in real estate, eventually working with the same big-name businessman—although they insist that neither helped the other land his gig with the Trump Organization.”
Wow. Right there in Long Island. I myself was probably in junior high on LI at the time.
Mother Jones on this surprising connection:
The Curious Link Between Trump’s Moscow Tower Deal and a Ukraine “Peace Plan”
Both involved Trump associates Michael Cohen and Felix Sater—and US sanctions.”
“A pair of Trump associates, Michael Cohen and Felix Sater, appear to be gaining significance in the Trump-Russia investigation. News broke this week that during the presidential campaign the two sought a deal for the construction of a Trump Tower in Moscow. And, as reported earlier this year, the pair pushed a Kremlin-backed proposal for the US to lift sanctions on Russia—part of a proposed “peace deal” between Ukraine and Russia that Cohen and Sater brought to Trump’s then national security advisor Michael Flynn.”
“Congressional investigators are now interested in how the Moscow tower proposal and the so-called peace deal may connect. “That is a question members will be exploring, certainly,” says an official close to the Senate Intelligence Committee. One thread running through both deals is Russia’s desire for relief from US sanctions, which the Trump presidential campaign repeatedly signaled it was interested in accommodating. How that might shed further light on the deals is a “very interesting line of inquiry,” the official adds.”
Cohen claims he later pulled the plug on the Moscow tower deal, and blames Sater for getting him involved. But this was not the last time the two would collaborate on deals with Russia. Far from it:
“Cohen claims that he pulled the plug on the Moscow tower deal in late 2015. But after Trump took office, Cohen and Sater went on to push a “peace plan” under which the US would unwind economic sanctions in exchange for the withdrawal of pro-Russian troops from Ukraine and an agreement to hold a referendum on the fate of Crimea, the Ukrainian territory Russia seized in 2014. Cohen hand-delivered the proposal to Flynn, who was soon forced to resign over matters including his lying about having discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador to the US.”
“The peace plan came from Andriy Artemenko, a Ukrainian lawmaker known for his pro-Kremlin views, who told the Times that senior aides to Putin encouraged him to push the plan. Artemenko said he contacted Sater through an unnamed “mutual friend,” who worked with Cohen to get the plan to Flynn. It is not clear if Trump himself reviewed the plan, though around the same time the president reportedly asked the State Department to look into the possibility of unilaterally rescinding sanctions on Russia.”
This ‘peace plan’ was clearly a great deal for the Ukraine: Artemenko’s Ukrainian citizenship was stripped subsequently.
For those who want to tell us this is ‘no big deal’, uhhhh:
“Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Valeriy Chaly, told the Times in February that the plan that Cohen and Sater delivered could be “pitched or pushed through only by those openly or covertly representing Russian interests.”
But wait! Another Trump apologist just told me this is all just FAKE NEWS. After all, they are’t covering it on Fox. Wait till Mueller hears that. This whole investigation will be over before sundown.
