Manafort Offered Russian Billionaire Private Briefings on the 2016 Campaign
But HIS emails! This is turning into another National Manafort Day with all the bombshells. But let’s start with the emails; after all, that was THE issue of the 2016 campaign if you listened to the MSM at the time. Hillary’s emails.
Not Manafort’s emails to a Russian billionaire where he offered him high level briefings to the Trump campaign.
A Russian billionaire with close Putin ties we should add.
“Manafort used Trump campaign account to email Ukrainian operative.”
“Manafort sent the emails to seek repayment for previous work he did in Ukraine.
“Former Donald Trump aide Paul Manafort used his presidential campaign email account to correspond with a Ukrainian political operative with suspected Russian ties, according to people familiar with the correspondence.”
“Manafort sent emails to seek repayment for previous work he did in Ukraine and to discuss potential new opportunities in the country, even as he chaired Trump’s presidential campaign, these people said.”
“Manafort had been a longtime consultant for Viktor Yanukovych, the Ukrainian president until 2014, and his Party of Regions. During the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, Ukrainian investigators said they had discovered evidence that Manafort received millions of dollars in off-the-books payments for his work there.”
“In the emails to Konstantin Kilimnik, a Manafort protégé who has previously been reported to have suspected ties to Russian intelligence, the longtime GOP operative made clear his significant sway in Trump’s campaign, one of the people familiar with the communications said. He and Kilimnik also met in the United States while Manafort worked for the Trump campaign, which he chaired until an August 2016 shake-up.”
Kilimnik is Russian military intelligence incidentally(incidentally is probably the wrong word. More like ‘not incidentally).
Just so we’re clear these emails with the Ukrainian operative aren’t even THE big Manafort story-though they’re big.
“The Washington Post reported Wednesday that the emails also showed Manafort sought to arrange briefings on the 2016 presidential race for Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire with ties to the Kremlin.”
Yes, the Washington Post story about Deripaska is the big Manafort story:
Less than two weeks before Donald Trump accepted the Republican presidential nomination, his campaign chairman offered to provide briefings on the race to a Russian billionaire closely aligned with the Kremlin, according to people familiar with the discussions.
“Paul Manafort made the offer in an email to an overseas intermediary, asking that a message be sent to Oleg Deripaska, an aluminum magnate with whom Manafort had done business in the past, these people said.”
“If he needs private briefings we can accommodate,” Manafort wrote in the July 7, 2016, email, portions of which were read to The Washington Post along with other Manafort correspondence from that time.
If he needs private briefings we can accommodate.
Again, let’s step back for a moment and remember that: the investigation is about whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian interference effort.
And here we have the Trump campaign manager telling a Russian billionaire-and Putin crony, though the two are one in the same-that he can have private briefings. This same campaign manager was also talking about the campaign to a member of Russian military intelligence and a Ukranian operative who also has ties to Putin.
Then there was that infamous Russia meeting in June, 2016 with Donald Jr and Jared Kushner.
Anyway, this is another huge Manafort Morning. There’s also the story of how he had no trouble getting work after the FBI raid of his house in July.
“Paul J. Manafort, the former campaign chairman for President Trump who is at the center of investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, is working for allies of the leader of Iraq’s Kurdish region to help administer and promote a referendum on Kurdish independence from Iraq.”
“The United States opposes the referendum, but Mr. Manafort has carved out a long and lucrative career advising foreign clients whose interests have occasionally diverged from American foreign policy. And he has continued soliciting international business even as his past international work has become a focus of the investigation by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, into ties between Russia and Mr. Trump and his associates, including possible collusion between them to influence the presidential election.”
“In fact, the work for the Kurdish group appears to have been initiated this summer around the time that federal authorities working for Mr. Mueller raided Mr. Manafort’s home in Virginia and informed him that they planned to indict him.”
“While the Kurdish referendum, scheduled for Monday, would not immediately trigger independence, the American government and the international community have expressed serious concerns about it. They fear that, if it passes overwhelmingly, as expected, it could further destabilize Iraq, damage the coalition fighting the Islamic State, and potentially spark violence in disputed areas.”
To paraphrase Ronald Reagan: There he goes again.
Acting in ways contrary to American interests. You know-treason.
In other news, Corey Lewandowski hopes Manafort along with Roger Stone dies in prison if they are found guilty.
And it looks as if Trump and Oleg Deripaska were both in New Jersey this weekend.
This was a recurring happening during the Trump campaign. Derispaska’s private plane had a way of showing up in the vicinity of Trump’s rallies, etc.
None dare call it treason.
Not for nothing we need a Democratic Congress to get to the bottom of what happened in that election. Right now, the GOP is keeping it behind closed doors to save Trump embarrassment.
Mike Sax NY2 would be a very good choice to replace Peter King on the Intelligence Committee-and tip the balance away from Devin Nunes.
By the way, I’m Mike Sax.
P.S. Hello! I’m Mike Sax Democratic candidate for NY2. If you want to ride the Impeachment Train all the way to Washington DC in 2019 then please vote for me, Mike Sax NY2.
And-get it on the t shirt.
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate.
