Could Sealed Indictment A be Against Donald Trump?
Louise Mensch. I wrote about her just yesterday. It’s fitting that she lives in England so we can quote one of the greatest Englishman ever: First they laugh at you and then they claim you said nothing new.
That great Englishman was: John Maynard Keynes.
And the more we learn about what really happened in that election the more people quit laughing at Mensch and switch to the narrative that she said nothing new.
Many months ago she’d reported that according to her sources there were multiple sealed indictments including one against Donald Trump. This was treated as self evidently absurd-why even dignify such an absurd claim with a reply?
So now we know there are multiple sealed documents-a few of which were unsealed yesterday. AND-it seems plausible there could be a sealed indictment against Donald Trump after all.
“The biggest news out of the criminal indictment against Trump advisers Paul Manafort and Rick Gates is that they’re both named in what’s been labeled as “Indictment (B)” – yet there’s not yet any “Indictment (A)” to speak of. That means Indictment (A) is still sealed, and by definition, it has to be higher profile than Manafort. There’s very good reason to believe that the sealed indictment is against Donald Trump. There’s also very good reason why Mueller would be keeping it in his back pocket.”
“First, here’s why the sealed indictment is most likely against Trump. Because it’s in tandem with the Manafort-Gates indictment, it has to be related to the specific charges that were brought against Manafort and Gates. Those charges center around money laundering, financial fraud, and money gained as unregistered foreign agents. The list of high profile people who could be named in Indictment (A) is very small: Trump, Mike Pence, Jeff Sessions, perhaps Jared Kushner. Trump is the only one of them with financial connections to Manafort. Thus, the only logical explanation is that the sealed indictment is against Trump (here’s link). The bigger question is why Mueller would seek a Trump indictment and then sit on it for now.”
“If this indictment is against Trump, it’s for financial crimes related to Manafort. That’s rather narrow, and it would only represent a small fraction of the things that Mueller wants to end up charging Trump with. Mueller can’t magically oust Trump from office simply by indicting him. Instead, he has to build up a war chest of evidence, witnesses, and indictments against Trump that he can unleash in order to make the overwhelming case that Trump is criminally culpable – because the ouster of a sitting president is still largely a political process.”
It is and, by the way, that’s why I’m not a huge fan of the 25 Amendment option. If/when Trump goes-it’s looking much better after Monday morning-it should be through the decision of the American people. That much I do agree with.
Impeachment is much preferable for that reason. As for Mensch, again, first they laugh then they say you said nothing new.
In any case there are four more sealed indictments waiting to be unsealed. As much fun as yesterday’s #MuellerMonday is, there is much more fun coming.
“Although the Papadopoulos and the Manafort-Gates case are two different cases, they’re both playing out in U.S. District Court in Washington DC. That same court has four sealed cases with case numbers between that of Papadopoulos and Manafort-Gates, as flagged by reporter Steve Reilly in a tweet (link). That doesn’t prove that the four cases are all Trump-Russia cases, but it means that they most likely are. We’ve observed today that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been lining his ducks up in advance so he could come firing out of the gate today. That means there are likely indictments already in place in the other four cases as well.”
“Those four Washington DC cases, assuming they are all indeed Trump-Russia cases, translate to at least four upcoming arrests. Manafort and Gates were on the same indictment, so it’s possible that each of the other four cases also has multiple targets. That means we could be looking at far more than four upcoming arrests, but it would mean at least four. So why does the headline of this article say five? That’s thanks to a different district.”
“It’s long been confirmed that Robert Mueller has been pursuing Michael Flynn in federal court in Virginia. If he’s also being arrested soon, which by all accounts seems likely, then we’re looking at five or more upcoming arrests: at least five from the Washington DC court and at least one from the Virginia court.”
Regarding Flynn, it’s widely believed that he’s already flipped.
P.S. I’m Mike Sax and I’m running for the NY 2nd District and have a question:
Would you prefer Peter King to continue to sit on the House Intelligence Committee Russia hearings or your buddy Mike?
If you’d prefer me I want you to consider either buying a campaign t shirt and/or donating today.
The shirt is pretty cool-in all due modesty. See-Hillary likes it too! Yes-that’s really me to her right!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate so we can compete with Peter King’s $4 million. I know no lobbyists or millionaires like Peter King. Small donations are the engine of the Mike Sax NY2 campaign. Together we can do it. Because we must.
