All Aboard the Impeachment Train! House Dems Plan Impeachment Vote Before Chirstmas
There’s nothing like an idea whose time has come they day. And it looks as if the idea of impeachment is starting to come into its own.
That’s a very welcome development. As many of you know, some of us, Ahem, have been talking about impeachment for some time now.
Yes that is me to Hillary’s direct right. Next to her is: Ralph Northam, something of the MVP of the Dem wave election on Tuesday night.
Often we’ve been derided and dismissed. But after the signs of a developing Democratic wave-indeed, a Democratic tsunami-the idea is starting to get more respect.
“There has been a lot of talk recently about impeachment, especially coming from Democrats, when the topic of President Trump comes up. In fact, numerous Democrats have already unveiled articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives, but up until this point, not much has been done to force a vote in the House. Today, however, all this appears to have changed.”
Previously, Dem leaders have pushed Congressman Al Green not to put his impeachment bill on the floor. However, the world looks a little different after that Blue tsunami.
“This morning Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who has already unveiled articles of impeachment against the President, said that he will force the House to vote on Trump’s impeachment no later than Christmas day. This gives Green and fellow Democrats approximately a month and a half to convince fellow representatives to vote to impeach the President of the United States.”
Ok, spoiler alert: Trump won’t be impeached this time. But it’s a dry run. Impeachment is a process, it doesn’t happen all on one day after passing one bill.
The thing to watch for is how many Democrats vote for it not if it passes-it won’t. Just getting it on the floor is an important watershed.
“Representative Al Green introduced articles of impeachment in the House earlier this year, but he ultimately opted not to force a vote on them. If the Democrats had forced a vote at the time, Trump would have survived it thanks to the Republicans, and he would have spun it as a major victory. The Democrats would have looked impotent, and it would have made it more difficult for them to successfully push for impeachment once it was more viable. But now Green says he’s going to force an impeachment vote soon after all – suggesting that the Democrats now think they may get some Republican votes.”
“Al Green announced today that he plans to force an impeachment vote in the House by Christmas, according to a Raw Story report (link). Now that the Republican Party has been shellacked in yesterday’s elections, and is seriously worried about the 2018 midterms, Green and the Democrats are testing the waters to see what kind of Republican support they can find for impeachment. Only around one-tenth of all Republicans in the House would have to join with the Democrats for impeachment hearings to begin.”
“House Republicans in moderate districts may now be looking to go into the 2018 midterm elections telling their constituents that they stand against Donald Trump – and the most surefire way to prove it is to vote for impeachment hearings to begin. After yesterday’s nationwide GOP wipeout, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some Republicans in Congress conclude that impeachment is their best bet for saving their own jobs.”
All Aboooooard! Choo choo chooooooo!
Can you imagine me taking Peter King’s seat on the Intelligence Committee and hanging with Al Green Maxine Waters, and Ted Leu?
P.S. I’m Mike Sax, I’m running for Congress in the NY 2nd District and I’m a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
Meeting her recently was one of the biggest honors in my life to stand next to such a fine public servant and trailblazer. She seemed to like our Impeachment Train campaign t shirts too!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate so we can compete with Peter King’s $4 million. I know no lobbyists or millionaires like Peter King. Small donations are the engine of the Mike Sax NY2 campaign. Together we can do it. Because we must.
