Fake GOP Tax Reform Bill is Gasoline on Fire of Their Trump Problem With Suburban Voters
After the huge Dem wave shown Tuesday night it’s now clear the GOP has a suburban voter problem.
“Republicans have a serious suburban problem in 2018.”
“As poorly as Donald Trump performed in the Virginia suburbs, Ed Gillespie did worse. That spells trouble in the midterms.”
“Republicans thought Donald Trump’s 2016 performance in the suburbs was as low as the GOP could go. Then Ed Gillespie went even lower.”
“The Republican nominee for Virginia governor underperformed the unpopular president in a toxic political environment for the GOP — losing by landslide margins even in territory where, just three years prior, he had nearly broken even in a run for Senate.”
We saw in Virginia and in many places across the country the Hillary Clinton coalition: voters of color and college educated whites.
“Republican strategists described Gillespie’s 9-point loss and other election results around the country as a massive early-warning signal for the 2018 elections, when House Republicans must defend 23 mostly suburban districts that Trump lost last year.”
“If it were just Virginia, we could put it down to federal workers and contractors, but it happened in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, too,” Chris Wilson, a GOP strategist, wrote in an email. “If you’re a GOP incumbent in a heavily suburban, college educated district, I think you’re worried today and rightfully so.”
Ok worried and rightfully so. Yet what are we hearing from GOP leadership? One thing we’re hearing is that ‘We’ve with Trump.’
“Speaking with Fox News radio host Brian Kilmeade, Ryan offered perhaps his biggest bear hug of Trump to date. Kilmeade asked Ryan if the GOP has to choose between Bush-style Republican policies and Trump, and Ryan didn’t equivocate.”
“We already made that choice,” he said. “We’re with Trump.”
And a thousand Democratic campaign ads were born.
“We already made that choice,” Ryan repeated. “That’s a choice we made at the beginning of the year. That’s a choice we made during the campaign, which is we merged our agendas. We ran on a joint agenda with Donald Trump. We got together with Donald Trump when he was President-elect Trump and walked through what is it we want to accomplish in the next two years. We all agreed on that agenda. We’re processing that agenda.”
The other thing the leadership is doing-Paul Ryan is doing-is doubling down on their fake tax reform bill which:
1. Isn’t tax reform as it explodes the deficit
2. Raises the taxes of almost half of middle class Americans.

P.S. I’m Mike Sax, I’m running for Congress in the NY 2nd District and I’m a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
Meeting her recently was one of the biggest honors in my life to stand next to such a fine public servant and trailblazer. She seemed to like our Impeachment Train campaign t shirts too!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate so we can compete with Peter King’s $4 million. I know no lobbyists or millionaires like Peter King. Small donations are the engine of the Mike Sax NY2 campaign. Together we can do it. Because we must.
