Want to Impeach Trump? Support Mike Sax for Congress NY2
This is an important dividing line. There are a lot of Democratic party insiders like David Axelrod who say things like this:
Steyer impeachment ads seem to me more of a vanity project than a call to action. It is-at least this point-an unhelpful message. If impeachment becomes a political tool, it will be as damaging to our democracy as the degradations @realDonaldTrump has inflicted on it.

I couldn’t disagree more with Axe-though I’m generally a fan of his. It’s not vanity it’s where the base of the party stands.
Really Axe? Talking abt impeachment is AS BAD as committing impeachable offenses?

As you know I give ‘impeachment talk’ a central pride of place in the Mike Sax for Congress NY2 campaign. Why is this?
For a few reasons:
1. It’s what Democrats want to talk about. Take a look at Rachel Maddow. Was is she number one in the cable news ratings? Because her coverage is the best out there, no one else is even close.
Though I do see that Chris Hayes has upped his game recently. And then there’s Lawrence O’Donnell. Watch those three shows in succession from 8 to 10 PM EST and you’ll get it: this is where the heart and soul of the party is.
Indeed, who are the Mike Sax for Congress NY2 voters? I like to say it’s the Rachel Maddow base.
That Democratic voters-rather than some insiders like Axelrod-want to talk about Russia and impeachment was shown at the annual NetRoots meeting recently.
“At Netroots, liberal activists demand full-throttle approach to Trump-Russia ties.”
“Progressives resist calls to de-emphasize focus on Russia probes.”
As those who have been following my campaign know I do ANYTHING sooner than de-emphasize Russia.
I understand the Dem base because I’m a card carrying member of it. In some ways it’s similar to Trump’s whole birther thing.
That was despicable on its own terms. But he got that this is what his base wanted to hear. Similarly I GET what Rachel Maddow Nation wants to hear because I’m part of it.
I’m part of #TheResistance.
2. But it’s also the right thing to do. As the NetRoots activists say:
“Not only is it a false choice, it’s a really limited choice,” said Democracy for America Executive Director Charles Chamberlain of the common refrain that Democratic candidates and groups ought to focus on issues like health care rather than the investigations. “I get it when people are frustrated when they feel like all they’re hearing is, ‘Russia, Russia, Russia…[but] it actually isn’t a distraction: It’s actually critical for our democracy.”
I don’t get Axelrod’s gloss that talking about impeaching Trump for colluding with Russia is just as bad as Trump’s collusion with Russia itself.
As for the Mike Sax for Congress campaign, I want to give you an update. I’m getting more and more positive feedback. People appreciate our message, that we aren’t afraid to talk about Trump’s treason and his threat to the country.
And I’m now-finally picking up some volunteers who know the area on the ground well.
But I must caution you my friends. Powerful forces are aligned to kill this insurgent campaign in its crib. I wrote about it yesterday.
Yes that IS a picture of Claude Taylor. If you plume my archives you could probably find a few of my posts defending him in the past. I was DEAD WRONG about that.
I strongly suspect he maliciously flagged my FB campaign page to disable my ad account-which did happen temporarily. Claude seems motivated more by his own ability to exploit the #Resistance than a genuine commitment to it.
And I’ll admit I’m someone who in the past refused to listen to those of you on Twitter who warned about him.
As for his ‘legal defense fund’ ask yourself why someone with a pro bono lawyer needs a legal defense fund?
People are literally lining his pocket.
But if you want to get in on the Impeachment Train my friends this is the time. Before enemies of #TheResistance succeed in killing this movement in its crib.
Note that when I speak of this campaign I say ‘We’ mostly ‘I’ much less.
I’m the candidate but a campaign is more than just the candidate. The candidate IS important-otherwise I wouldn’t bother to be one: I WANT to make a positive impact on our nation and society my friends.
We’ve had a low wage epidemic for 16 years that is destroying lives and destroying our society.
But the volunteers and staff are part of it and the rest of you my friends I’ve reached on Twitter, on Facebook, in ‘real life’ here in the district, it’s about you.
And my best friend Kev, my brother from another Mother.
Together we can, must, and will do it. But we have to start now. Many are now telling me they WILL donate- excellent!
Let’s have something to show the DCCC by the end of 2017. Before they can kill this nascent campaign in its crib.
P.S. I’m Mike Sax, I’m running for Congress in the NY 2nd District and I’m a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
Meeting her recently was one of the biggest honors in my life to stand next to such a fine public servant and trailblazer. She seemed to like our Impeachment Train campaign t shirts too!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate so we can compete with Peter King’s $4 million. I know no lobbyists or millionaires like Peter King. Small donations are the engine of the Mike Sax NY2 campaign. Together we can do it. Because we must.
