Oops! Roy Moore Did it Again: Another Accuser Says He Assaulted Her as a Minor
You know poor old Roy Moore. He’s always forgetting whether years ago he dated minor girls or not. Totally escapes his memory. Happens all the time.
The other day someone asked me if I engaged in serial killing in the past and my response was ‘Not that I can remember; it sure doesn’t sound like me and isn’t my normal habit. But who can remember that long ago?’
Roy Moore’s responses to questions are just bizarre: not that I can remember. It’s not my habit to date girls without their Mother’s permission.
Sooo-he did date minor girls but only after asking their mom?!
Now there’s news that another accuser is coming forward who says he assaulted her when she was a minor:
“New York attorney Gloria Allred says she will be holding a news conference today with an Alabama woman who alleges Roy Moore sexually assaulted her as a minor in Alabama. The announcement comes days after a Washington Post article alleged Moore had sexual contact with multiple women when they were in their teens. The youngest was just 14.”
“The news conference will be held November 13, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. EST at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel on 50th and Madison.”
Greg Sargent has some good analysis of what the GOP are really saying here:
Ignore the spin. Trump and the GOP have made a devil’s bargain with Roy Moore.
“Top White House officials have now made President Trump’s position on Roy Moore absolutely clear: Trump does not believe that the allegations that Moore initiated sexual contact with a 14-year-old — and pursued three other teenagers — should disqualify him from becoming a U.S. senator.”
Exactly. Of course, they don’t SAY THIS IN SO MANY WORDS:
This is not how they presented their position, of course. On the Sunday shows, legislative director Marc Short and senior adviser Kellyanne Conway both expressed great shock and horror over the charges. But then each of them carefully carved out a position that appears designed to allow Moore to continue with his run for Senate largely unobstructed and, ultimately, to accept Moore as a senator if he wins, while letting the allegations fade away in a fog of he-said-she-said uncertainty.”
Which is 180 degrees from how they respond to any Democrat or anyone even tangentially connected to the Democrats. In those cases the accused is guilty till proven innocent can NEVER be proven innocent.
Like they keep referring to Bill Clinton but it was never proven that he assaulted anyone. The only thing that was ever shown was that he engaged in consensual extra marital affairs. But they had a far different standard there.
Now they seem to suggest that unless Moore is proven guilty in a criminal court of law then it’s just he-said-she-said.
Indeed Moore himself is not denying he did it-he says he doesn’t remember if he did or not-which is not remotely credible-and that if he did he got the underage girl’s mother’s permission-as if any mother in her right mind would give such permission!!
“On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Short claimed “there’s a special place in hell” for such sexual predators and said that “no Senate seat” is “more important than the notion of child pedophilia.” But then Short said the White House would object to seating him as a senator only “if more evidence comes out that can prove that he did this,” while adding that this is “a huge if,” because “more facts” could still “come out.” Said Short: “We have to afford him the chance to defend himself.”
This is totally the opposite of the GOP standard for Harvey Weinstein or Bill Clinton. Whenever a Democrat like Weinstein is found to have done something terrible the GOP presumes guilt AND suggest that we Democrats are hypocrites because we preach against sexual assault and then look at one of our biggest donors, or politiicans, etc!
But the opposite is true. Weinstein very quickly was repudiated and has become a social pariah. Totally the oppsoite of what happened with Trump post Hollywood Access or is happening now regarding Roy Moore.
As much as some like Chuck Todd play false equivalence-he suggested teh other day that Democrats are also unwilling to repudiate sexual predators who emerge in their ranks-this narrative does not stand up the the facts.
P.S. I’m Mike Sax, I’m running for Congress in the NY 2nd District and I’m a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
Meeting her recently was one of the biggest honors in my life to stand next to such a fine public servant and trailblazer. She seemed to like our Impeachment Train campaign t shirts too!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate so we can compete with Peter King’s $4 million. I know no lobbyists or millionaires like Peter King. Small donations are the engine of the Mike Sax NY2 campaign. Together we can do it. Because we must.
