Mo Brooks: it Doesn’t Matter Whether Roy Moore Assaulted Women or Not
He’s a Republican from Alabama of course. Enough said. The Republicans from Alabama aren’t even pretending. Roy Moore’s a Republican his opponent is a Democrat, we don’t know if Moore is guilty but even if he is, better to have a Senator accused of multiple counts of sexual assault than a Democrat.
“For nearly a week, Alabama senate-nominee Roy Moore’s sexual assault scandal has gripped the Republican Party, dividing top lawmakers amid the fierce public backlash.”
“The controversial subject has evoked varying responses, including causing one lawmaker to flee from a reporter’s dogged line of questions.”
“In the video released on Tuesday evening, ABC News correspondent Tom Llamas is seen briskly walking down a flight of stairs, closely behind Representative Mo Brooks of Alabama. Amid the hurried footsteps, Llamas can be heard firing a few questions as Brooks appears to avoid him.”
“Do you believe Roy Moore over the women?” Llamas asked.
“I believe that the Democrats will do great damage to our country,” Brooks said.
“So you still believe Roy Moore?” Llamas continued.
“I believe that the Democrats will do great damage to our country on a myriad of issues,” Brooks repeated.
A few months back Steve Schmidt-himself a long time Republican-had said a few words about the tribalist partisanship that has plagued his party in recent years.
“Any Republican member of Congress who takes the president, his spokespeople’s assertions that [Comey was fired] because he was unfair to Hillary Clinton is either a fool, or they have so lost sight in this era of tribal politics, of their responsibilities to the country, that they have become faithless to their oaths,” Schmidt said about the president’s memo detailing his reasons for firing FBI director James Comey.
Schmidt next refers to this tweet from longtime chief of staff to Sen. John McCain, Mark Salter, suggesting that “the security of the United States might now depend on electing a Democratic Congress in 2018.”
The security of our country AND the security of American women. Yet Republicans have the nerve to feign outrage over Harvey Weinstein, Anthony Weiner, Bill Clinton etc.
Though Weiner never did anything but sext and Bill may have had affairs but they were consensual.
But Brooks and his fellow Alabama GOPers are frank: party above all, party above America.
P.S. I’m Mike Sax, I’m running for Congress in the NY 2nd District and I’m a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
Meeting her recently was one of the biggest honors in my life to stand next to such a fine public servant and trailblazer. She seemed to like our Impeachment Train campaign t shirts too!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate so we can compete with Peter King’s $4 million. I know no lobbyists or millionaires like Peter King. Small donations are the engine of the Mike Sax NY2 campaign. Together we can do it. Because we must.
