Deep State 1, Judiciary 1, Media 1, Protesters 1, Trump Administration
It drives Glenn Greenwald crazy but it’s true: you don’t want the Deep State for an enemy. That was also Nixon’s trouble. Of course it took ole Trick Dick over six years to get where Trump is now in three and a half weeks
Before Flynn, Reagan’s first NSC Advisor had the shortest tenure in history and he lasted 348 days. Flynn: 24 days.
You don’t want the Deep State for an enemy. And it’s very good thing that the DS doesn’t trust Trump and friends. It means he’s on a very tight leash.
If and when we do have impeachment hearings on Trump, the testimony of the DS will be vital.
It’s fitting after the way Trump treated Sally Yates, that it’s her info on Flynn that led to his demise.
But it’s not just the Deep State that’s slapping Trump down. There’s also the judiciary which has let Trump know very clearly that his fantasies of absolute unitary authority exist nowhere but in Stephen Miller’s deranged imagination.
Let me ask a question at the margins: if Trump has absolute power regarding immigration decisions, why did the Republicans challenge Obama on DACA? And why did a federal court rule in their favor? If the chief executive has absolute unitary power?
And we are already seeing why Trump demonizes the media so much-he hates the truth.
Tonight’s resignation reminds both why patriots should cherish a free & independent press – and why Donald Trump so fears & hates it

The anti Trump protest movement, the overall Trump Resistance also is on the board. Rand Paul admitted that the protests are bigger than the Tea Party-though many GOPers try to slander them as ‘astroturf.’
There is talk about wether the #Resistance is sustainable and whether it’s more like the Tea Party or Occupy Wall St. It’s more like the TP in that it’s interventions all focus on electoral politics whereas Occupy Wall St. acted like it was above mere electoral concerns.
And those who think it won’t be sustainable need to think again. As a member of the #Resistance I can tell you this: we have just started. Democrats are so mad that we won’t rest until Trump and his racism and crypto fascism are defeated once and for all.
Meanwhile Team Trump has yet to score a goal-at least not one in its own net. Mathew Miller notes that despite all the bluster, Trump is starting out as a weaker President than normal as everyone from the Deep State to the courts is trimming his sails.
Trump may aspire to be a strongman, but he’s proving to be an exceptionally ineffectual president.
“Donald Trump ran for president boasting of his supposedly legendary negotiating and management skills while promising that he alone could fix the problems ailing the country. But three weeks into his presidency, a combination of inexperience, lack of attention to detail and an engaged opposition inside and outside the government have left him as the weakest new president in modern American history.”
