Reince Priebus: Nothing Wrong With Flynn Talking About Sanctions
It’s just amazing, but just in case we thought we misunderstood Donald Trump at his press conference the other day, Priebus confirms that this is Trump’s position.
1. Flynn did nothing wrong in discussing sanctions with Russia the day Obama imposed them.
2. Flynn though had to be go for lying to Mike Pence.
So we don’t even need to speculate anymore. Flynn spoke to Russia about getting rid of sanctions the day Obama imposed them and he was clearly not going rogue.
White House chief of staff Reince Priebus said there was “nothing wrong” with former national security adviser Mike Flynn talking about sanctions against Russia with the country’s ambassador.
“No, there’s nothing wrong with having a conversation about sanctions,” Priebus said in an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation” to be broadcast Sunday. “And there’s nothing wrong about having a conversation about the fact that the Obama administration put further sanctions in place and expelled some folks out of the United States. There’s nothing wrong with that topic coming up in a conversation.”
Again, the attempt to hand wave away the importance of what this means. It’s like when Trump innocently complained: what’s the big deal, I just took a phone call from Taiwan. I couldn’t be rude and not answer the phone.
Then a few months later he does a 180 in China.
“According to ABC News, Trump received a big, fat gift from China this week in the form of a 10-year trademark on his name for construction. . . .”
“The award marks a sudden reversal of fortunes for Trump, who had reportedly been trying to win the valuable rights to his name for a decade. Interestingly, the Chinese government came through for him one month after he took the oath of office and a week after his conversation with Chinese president Xi Jinping during which he endorsed the One China policy. After years of battling to take back the rights to his name from a man named Dong Wei, Trump’s registration was made official on Tuesday and announced by China’s trademark office on Wednesday.”
Reince Priebus is clear:
“There was not a darn thing wrong with what he was doing by communicating to these other leaders,” Priebus said.
Dickerson, however, pressed Priebus several times, asking whether it was OK for Flynn to specifically talk about the sanctions.
“The point is that there was nothing wrong. He didn’t do anything wrong,” Priebus said.
Meanwhile even Roger Stone wants Congressional hearings and/or an Independent Prosecutor:
Let’s see if an IP or Congress agrees he did nothing wrong.
