Donald Trump is Always Name Checking Bernie Sanders
He did it again this morning:
The race for DNC Chairman was, of course, totally "rigged." Bernie's guy, like Bernie himself, never had a chance. Clinton demanded Perez!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 26, 2017
Talk about chutzpah as, of course, the Democratic primary was not ‘rigged’-Bernie lost fair and square-while Trump’s own ‘victory’ was completely tainted and tarnished. He lost the popular vote by 3 million and only won the EC because of the Comey letter. Then there was Russia’s hacking and subversion and the open question that Trump’s team collaborated with this hostile foreign power. I’d start with Roger Stone who talked about sending an intermediary-a ‘very good media friend of mine-to speak to Assange.
Trump also name checked Bernie on Friday at CPAC. You see both Bernie and Trump hate trade deals. No they don’t hate ‘all trade deals’ they just like fair trade’-but neither of them can name one trade deal in human history that they agree was ‘fair.’
Bernie tried to differentiate between he and Trump/Breitbart by claiming that he had been on the ‘fair trade’ train much longer than Herr Trump. Even that is false as Chuck Todd uncovered footage from the first time Trump considered running back in 1987. He was inveighing against trade then too.
Matthew Chapman got this right:

Jake Tapper-of course-led this morning with: Bernie Sanders. Right away the media wants to divide the Democratic party and bash Hillary Clinton. Again. First Tapper had on new DNC Chairman Tom Perez and tries to make him say ‘Yeah, Hillary Clinton ran a terrible campaign.’
Then it’s Bernie. Bernie refuses to release his precious list of donors. No, he wants to support just those candidates he thinks are True Progressive enough. Which brings me again to my pet peeve: Litmus Test Leftism.
You know, if you don’t call for a total and complete ban of fracking in the country today or a $15 federal MW today or banning all ‘corporate donors’ today then you’re not a True Progressive and are not serious. Or maybe as Susan Sarandon sanctimoniously puts it ‘You’re happy with the status quo.’
Of course, as Hannah Arednt warned us, one of the pillars of totalitarianism is blanket rejection of the status quo. One of the big lies of the 2016 campaign was there was simply nothing worse in the world than the ‘current status quo.’ This was a lie. True we were not living in the best of times but it was also far from the worst.
Bernie then quite laughably claimed credit for the #Resistance. Ok, but it’s not a Berner operation. The Berners are about an ever contracting and closing circle. There are 95 Theses of True Progressives and if you deviate you’ve been unmasked as a ‘corporate shill.’
The #Resistance is an expanding circle. If you don’t know if you agree that all fracking must end today at 11:59 tonight or the $15 MW must go into effect across the country by that time but you really don’t like Donald Trump and hate and fear what he’s doing to this country, you can still be part of it.
For the record, I’m all for a $15 MW in my home state of NY and would have no objection to it federally though I think you should let the economists run the numbers first. But it’s an abstract debate. To raise the MW to $15, $12 or even $10 we need to win some elections.
Chapman gets it right here too:

Meanwhile, the classic Bernie Bro, Matt Bruenig is laughably claiming that the ‘Establishment’ rigged the Chairmanship ‘even under the shadow of Trump.’

Please. I knew Berner or Bust types-some of them were my friends pre 2016 when we all supported Obama. During the general they were #Demexit. The night of Trump’s ‘win’ I found one guy-he’s a Native American guy who lives in Hawaii-openly celebrating Trump’s win.
I had deliberately not spoken to him much during the election as we didn’t agree and I didn’t want to destroy our friendship which from his tweets it was clear would be immediately if we started to discuss politics then.
But when I saw this I was so appalled I told him-‘It’s just as we said all along. You were never a progressive. You were just anti Hillary.’ And I blocked him.
So don’t tell me about Trump’s Shadow when you guys-the Bernie or Busters-were minimizing the threat of Trump all along and many of you actually went on to celebrate his win. Few leftists other than Noam Chomsky came out of this election looking very good.
He had warned all along against protest voting.
However, the left should also recognize that, should Trump win based on its failure to support Clinton, it will repeatedly face the accusation (based in fact), that it lacks concern for those sure to be most victimized by a Trump administration.
P.S. If you enjoy my blog and my support of #TheResistance-I’m also considering a 2018 run against GOP Congressmen Peter King of the NY 2nd district-then please consider a donation.
