Trump’s Popularity Down to 36% as America Tires of Winning
CNBC, God love the, are really trying to look at the glass half full side of things. They can’t concede there’s no bright side for Trump-of course, there’s a bright side they want to insist. This is the best they can come up with:
“President Donald Trump‘s approval rating slid to a fresh low this weekend after Republicans’ attempt to replace the Affordable Care Act failed in dramatic fashion, according to Gallup.”
“Trump’s approval dipped to 36 percent during the three-day period of Friday to Sunday, one point lower than his worst previous reading, Gallup said. It fell below President Barack Obama’s lowest approval of 38 percent and President Bill Clinton’s worst reading of 37 percent.”
“Former presidents George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon all had approval ratings lower than 36 percent at least once, according to Gallup.”
Yes, others had lower than 36% but never this soon. For some reason they didn’t mention George W. Bush in the list who ended up with an approval rating in the 20s, just like Nixon did. But it took awhile to get there. W didn’t get under 40% till post Social Security privatization debacle and the Katrina debacle.
Just two months in is just stunning. No way to sugarcoat it. Though CNBC wants to. They so hope they’ll get some tax cuts for the rich out of this.
“Approval ratings are often volatile, and Trump’s could rise in the near future. Still, voters widely disliked him during the 2016 election and he entered office as one of the most unpopular presidents in recent memory.”
“It is unclear how the sagging approval will affect Trump moving forward. While he won last year’s electoral vote as a widely disliked candidate, he competed against another unpopular choice in Hillary Clinton.”
So now they’re kicking Hillary in the teeth again. She was not as unpopular as him and her numbers actually rose sharply in October until Comey wrote his indefensible letter.
Let’s stop being modest. Trump is an outlier. Someone on Twitter-can’t remember their name or I’d link it-noted that he’s had the worst 100 days ever and that includes Benjamin Harrison.
No other President lost on their first big initiative with their own party running both Houses of Congress.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
