If Nunes’ Intercepts Vindicate Trump Why Won’t He Release Them?
Last night Robert Costa was on Chris Hayes and said that while Republicans are defending Nunes, they think he should release what he has-as he says it will vindicate Trump.
That most House GOPers are defending Nunes is itself a travesty.
It shows very clearly they put party over country. In exchange for tax cuts for the rich, they’ll accept anything, even having the country reduced to a client state of Russia.
But even they want Nunes to release the intercepts that someone in the Trump WH gave to him. Everything Nunes has said about this strange caper has not checked out. He claimed first that he didn’t get it from the WH. When the Washington Post reported he met his source on WH grounds, he claimed that ‘I’m sure they didn’t know I was there’ as if anyone can drop in to the WH and start looking through classified files like it’s an Internet Cafe.
Fact is, you don’t get inside the WH unless someone inside lets you in. Then he was all like ‘Of course, I wasn’t sneaking around the sun was out’ and ‘If I wanted to sneak around no one would have known I was there.’
But, of course, he didn’t volunteer that he got it at the WH. But if these intercepts that someone in the WH showed him-Trump lawyer Michael Nunes?
in any way vindicate Trump you have to believe he’d release them. Yet, Nunes is now vowing to take whatever he has to the grave. He says ‘We will never reveal sources and methods’ which is also puzzling. Who is this we? He’s supposed to be a member of the intelligence panel but that’s not the we he has in mind. He must mean ‘me and Donald Trump.’
“Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said Tuesday that he’ll never reveal the source behind his claim that members of Donald Trump’s team had indirectly come under surveillance by U.S. intelligence agencies.”
“We will never reveal sources and methods,” Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said to ABC News’ Mary Bruce on Tuesday.
“Even other members of the committee, which is investigating Russian interference in the presidential campaign, will not learn how Nunes obtained information he said indicated that key figures close to Trump were monitored by U.S. intelligence, Nunes said.”
Other members of the intelligence committee have not yet seen the materials Nunes cited, and it’s unclear when they’ll be made available to other lawmakers. “My guess is that it’s going to be a slow process,” Nunes said to ABC News.
My guess. I love how he talks about his own behavior as if it’s a market prediction. So not only will he not tell other members of the intelligence committee his source, but will not show them the material.
I don’t think it’s jumping out on a limb to surmise that this material doesn’t vindicate Trump. In fact, the way Nunes is acting makes you suspect that there is something very damning in these intercepts. Maybe it shows they had a FISA warrant against them.
Some accuse Louise Mensch of being a conspiracy theorist but there is a conspiracy happening right before our eyes between Nunes and the Trump WH. Not only is Nunes not fit to run this investigation anymore, he needs to be a witness.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will
