Congressman Eric Swalwell Dares Trump to Declassify So Called Criminality
You go Congressman. This is one of the many hard to figure aspects of Trump’s claim that Obama spied on him-in the tradition of Nixon’s ‘LBJ spied on me’ during Watergate.
He was talking about 1968 when Nixon scuttled Vietnam peace talks so he could be President. In other words he engaged in treason like the Trump WH is being investigated about today. Yet Nixon like Trump now was very indignant that anyone should spy on him as he committed treason.
Meanwhile, what’s been clear is that Trump has nothing on Obama, he has nothing on Susan Rice. If he did have information that was damning, he’d release it. When Devin Nunes refused to let anyone else see the documents that allegedly vindicated Herr Trump this was a tell: if you look at them in their full context they don’t validate him. Indeed, quite possibly the opposite.
How else do you explain it?
If they thought the docs prove Susan Rice etc. did something wrong, don't you think they would want to share them? https://t.co/sxLPlubYyr

Now Congressman Erick Swalwell calls on Trump to put up or shut up.
“A Democrat on the House panel investigating Donald Trump’s ties to Russia is issuing an ultimatum: If the president is going to accuse members of the Obama administration of breaking the law, he should prove it.”
“If the president wants to say that Susan Rice committed a crime, he has the power to declassify. No one else does,” Rep. Eric Swalwell of California said Wednesday. “So, he could actually show us where the crime was. I don’t expect he will, because I think this is just more obstructionism.”
“Swalwell’s remarks came after Trump told The New York Times that he believes Rice committed a crime when she reportedly requested the identities of Trump transition aides who were caught up in U.S. surveillance of foreign targets. “It is one of the big stories of our time,” Trump declared.
“And Swalwell on Wednesday said that if Trump has evidence to the contrary, he should release it and let the public judge for itself.”
“If he has evidence that she committed a crime, he actually can show us what his evidence looks like,” said Swalwell, a member of the House Intelligence Committee. “Right now, he has a credibility problem because he’s been proved wrong a lot on Russia.”
He doesn’t want to show us the evidence-as whatever he has in full context will be even more incriminating for him. While this has worked for him-as a diversion-in the short term, in the long term it may prove counterproductive, Jennifer Rubin argues:
“The Trump spin squad appears so desperate to create confusion — Trump now reverts to airing old campaign canards about Hillary Clinton — that it has confused itself about what is helpful and what is not. When you hear breathless accusations from Fox Non-News hosts, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) or enlisted right-wing journalists eager for a scoop — ask yourself why it is the least bit unusual for national security officials to be looking for Russia’s points of contacts. It’s not, and it does not detract from the enormity of the scheme of manipulation, disinformation, cultivation and other tried-and-true Soviet-style techniques unfolding before our eyes. And that is merely what we presently know about the Russia-Trump scandal. One suspects that Trump and his pro-Russian associates — past and present, both those bought off and those wittingly or unwittingly enlisted to amplify Russian propaganda — know that there is much, much more yet to be learned.”
There is undoubtedly much, much more yet to be learned. As John McCain said recently-another shoe is going to drop on this thing every few days. He argues therefore we should have a Select Committee.
Indeed. McCain has a curios role here. He is a partisan Republican who votes with Trump 96.9% of the time in the Senate.
On the other hand, he showed the Steele Dossier to the FBI. The Dossier doesn’t just say Russia interfered but that Trump colluded. So no matter that McCain publicly votes with Trump and that Trump knew, he clearly has had his own suspicions.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will
