To Rescue His Falling Poll Numbers Now Trump is Baiting North Korea
Seeing what a great reception he got from cable news and even some Democrats, the takeaway for Trump is clear: the only way to rescue his poll numbers is to engage in lots of military adventurism.
Brian William’s is gong to be having multiple orgasms.
“Those who instantly fall in line behind Trump as he bombs people are ensuring that he will keep doing it. As the instantly popular post-9/11 George W. Bush showed, those praising Trump for bombing Syria are also building him up in general so that he becomes stronger with everything else he wants to do.”
“Trump is going to see – and feel – the establishment and media respect he craves, the sensations of strength he most lacks, by dropping bombs. Every person, let alone Trump, would be tempted to keep pursuing war as a result of this warped incentive framework. Indeed, Trump himself has long been aware of this motivation as he accused Obama in 2012 of preparing to start a new war in response to falling poll numbers:”
This is why the Dems must not fall in line behind Trump-it will strengthen him in everything else he wants to do.
The Democrats have already defeated Trump domestically. So resurrecting him by falling behind the Great War Leader would undo all the good work they have done.
Trump who is under FBI investigation for possible collusion with a hostile foreign power to rig our elections is now launching his second military strike in three days.
“That Trump is using these military strikes to try to distract from his own crippling scandals, and salvage his comatose approval rating, is a given. What’s less clear is just how far he’s willing to take this, or what his own majority party is willing to do to rein him in. Trump’s strike in Syria has since been exposed as a sham, mere theater aimed at changing the subject even while making sure no Russian interests were harmed (link). But at least no U.S. troops died as a result of his stunt. The same may not be able to be said about his impending North Korea stunt.”
“Trump appears to be hanging U.S. warships off the coast of the Korean Peninsula tonight in the hope that brazenly unstable North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un will fire at the ships, thus providing an excuse for further military action – and thus further distraction from now nearly infinite scandals. If that is Trump’s current gambit, and if U.S. troops do die at the hands of Kim tonight, it will be because Trump sent them there to die. Not to merely risk their lives, but specifically to die so he’d have an excuse to retaliate. That is, simply put, murder.”
Again, to those who claim we should depersonalize the best policy from Trump, I return to my drunk pilot analogy. Just because we really need to fly to California doesn’t mean we should take the next flight if the pilot is drunk, thinks he’s too smart for pilot school, and by the way this is his first flight.
Trump reportedly has more than once wondered why we have these fabulous nuclear weapon if we aren’t allowed to use them?
But messing with North Korea is clearly pushing things to the brink already. How far is Trump going to take this?
Democrats must demand he engage in no more unauthorized military strikes. He must come before Congress. And there, the Dems must think very long and hard if they want to empower this drunk pilot who doesn’t see why we can’t use some nuclear weapons.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will
