Louise Mensch: Carter Page Took Trump Tape to Russia Promising Policy Shifts for Hacking Help
Louise Mensch does it again:
Carter Page brings a Tape of Trump to Russia promising Policy Shifts favoring Russia. This is Huge. How does Louise keep doing this? https://t.co/AwjNnwMVcc

Some like Seth Abramson have reservations. But she has gotten many things right in the past-she was way early on the FISA warrant.

Note that what we already know prior to this is a lot. Carter Page-who just happened to be recruited by a Russian spy in 2013-met with Igor Sechin in Russia in July in a trip approved by the Trump campaign. Igor Sechin ‘just happens to be’ a sanctioned Russian oligarch. In this trip to Russia, sanctioned by the Trump campaign, with a sanctioned Russian oligarch, Page discussed an offer from Sechin whereby for a 19% stake in Rosnet, Trump drops the Russian sanctions.
Regarding Abramson’s skepticism-or anyone else’s skepticism-regarding Mensch: time will tell if she’s right in her latest. But she’s got a very good track record. For instance-who introduced Trump to Carter Page? Jeff Sessions.
Sessions played the nice, ruby country boy when he was asked about what he discussed with the Russian envoy in those conversations he had that he withheld at his Senate confirmation.
Aw, shucks. I don’t remember much of it, just small talk about my church group visiting Russia 26 years ago.
But in point of fact, he not only was the one who brought in Page, Sessions’ deputy in the campaign was: yep, JD Gordon. Gordon confessed to calling for the change in the GOP platform at the July convention.
But on Jeff Sessions, Louise Mensch was again early to the party. This is what she wrote in early February-before we became aware of Sessions’ perjury or Gordon admitted he changed the platform:
“Jeff Sessions has just been confirmed. It is now incumbent on patriotic Republicans and Democrats, and, failing that, patriotic lawyers willing to bring cases, to demand that Sessions recuse himself from any and all investigations concerning Russian hacking of the election, the Department of Justice investigation into corruption and election interference by the FBI field office in New York and the NYPD, and any investigations involving Steve Bannon or Trump or Breitbart campaign staff, past or present.”
That was on February 7. On March 2, Sessions would recuse himself. So she knew about Sessions before the conventional wisdom caught up with her.
So she has a track record. Seth Abramson:
(6) Mensch is evasive: her sources aren't _in_ the U.S. IC, they have _links_ to the U.S. IC. They don't "know" anything, they "believe" it.

Again, though, her sources have checked out in the past. Maybe she’s given their ‘beliefs’ higher levels of credibility as they’ve panned out for her in the past. Anyway, we’ll see if she’s right again but she has a record of performance where she deserves some benefit of the doubt.
Here she is:
“Sources with links to the intelligence community say it is believed that Carter Page went to Moscow in early July carrying with him a pre-recorded tape of Donald Trump offering to change American policy if he were to be elected, to make it more favorable to Putin. In exchange, Page was authorized directly by Trump to request the help of the Russian government in hacking the election.”
“On November 7th I reported that the FBI had been granted a FISA warrant to investigate the activities of two Russian banks, Alfa Bank and Silicoln Valley Bank. I also reported that an earlier attempt to obtain a FISA warrant, in June, had failed in the court because it named Donald Trump himself and three of his associates. In an exclusive at Patribotics, I reported that these named associates were Carter Page, Paul Manafort, and Boris Epshteyn.”
“Sources close to the intelligence community now report that this application was made because a recording exists of all three men discussing the possibility of Page taking the tape of Trump to Moscow as an earnest of good faith. There is a minor dispute over whether Trump himself is also on that tape, as well as the tape that was delivered to Moscow by Carter Page of Trump making this promise.”
Carter Page, Paul Manafort, Boris Epshteyn. In other words: Russian agent, Russian agent, Russian agent.
“A separate source with links to the intelligence community reported to me several months ago that Boris Epshteyn, alone of the four men named in the first FISA application, is an actual FSB agent, and, the source said, is the son of two other sleeper agents. Paul Manafort is registering as an agent of a foreign power; Carter Page has admitted, from public reporting, to have met with Russian intelligence agents.”
“It may therefore be surmised that Page, Manafort and Epshteyn, in this conversation wherein they discussed taking the Trump tape to Moscow, were all acting in concert as agents of the Russian state first and foremost, and Trump staffers second. Because the provision of such a tape to Putin would clearly be the ultimate in kompromat on a future American President (far worse than any sexual blackmail tape).”
The media has allowed itself to be diverted from Russiagate for the last few weeks via Trump’s weapons of mass distraction. But the walls continue to close in even as the media ignores it.
At some point in the future, the media will tire of the Trump the great war leader narrative and realize this.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
