When Trump Said People Shouldn’t Die in the Streets, it Wasn’t Meant Literally
Remember when Trump claimed to be the only Republican who wouldn’t allow people to ‘die in the streets?’ Turns out sometimes you shouldn’t take him literally.
TrumpCare does plenty of that. What makes it more appalling is that the Republicans who voted for this believe in ObamaCare for me but TrumpCare for Thee.
Like the infamous Congressman Raul Labrador.

Cillizza gives Labrador the Worst Week in Washington:
“House Republicans took a massive political risk this week: They passed unpopular legislation to reform and replace the Affordable Care Act with no sense of how much it would cost or how many Americans it would (or won’t) cover. Or whether the Senate will even act on it.”
“What Republicans desperately need now is an aggressive messaging effort aimed at explaining to a wary public why the American Health Care Act will actually make their lives better.”
“Raul Labrador did the exact opposite of all that at a town hall meeting in Lewiston, Idaho, on Friday.”
“Nobody dies because they don’t have access to health care,” the Republican congressman from Idaho said in response to a statement by a woman that the “lack of health care was essentially asking people to die,” according to local CBS station KLEW.
“If you didn’t hear that line before now, never fear: You’ll be hearing it A LOT more in Democratic campaign ads over the next 18 months or so.”
“Labrador, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, won’t likely lose re-election in ruby red Idaho. But what he did Friday was give Democrats a ready-made attack line against every vulnerable House Republican who voted for (or even against) the AHCA.
Again, what’s most grating is that all the GOPers-Labrador, the grinning Paul Ryan, etc.-voted to keep their own Obamacare.
It’s imperative then, that the GOP pay a huge price for this in 2018. The GOPers must realize that there is a very steep price to pay for going over this third rail of politics.
In that vein, there seems to be a candidate folks are now focusing as the guy to finally beat Paul Ryan.
I am humbled by calls & messages urging me to run against Paul Ryan. We must take our country back.

“David Yankovich Will Beat Paul Ryan In 2018.”
“My name is Karen Erb and I live in Paul Ryan’s congressional district in Wisconsin. I’ve watched Paul Ryan ignore me and the rest of his constituents for 18 years. He has pursued a legislative agenda that does not benefit my family or the people he represents. Because of my growing anger with Paul Ryan and Congress as a whole, I am determined to create change in my own community. To do that, I am calling on David Yankovich to challenge Paul Ryan in Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District.”
“I’m certain that David will stand up to Paul Ryan and his Republican cronies. I know that they are going to spend limitless amounts of money to protect the Speaker of the House but you know what? I’m not afraid and neither is David.”
“Ryan’s pals look out for Washington and not for people like you and me. David’s life looks like so many of ours. His father works in a distribution plant. His mother is battling a very serious illness. Every day he faces the challenges of living in a world that doesn’t seem to give working people the smallest break. David knows what it is like to have to choose between paying the electric bill and the gas bill, to not have the money to buy his kids a Slurpee at the gas station.”
“And David will fight for the rights of others. He believes in promoting the values I taught my children and want to ensure my grandchildren learn as well. Protecting the rights of women, the LGBTQ community, and all minorities. Not every American looks or loves or worships the same, but all Americans deserve the same rights, opportunities, and dignity. David will be a voice for all of us.”
“Paul Ryan has repeatedly demonstrated that he is out of touch with Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District by ignoring his constituents and refusing to hold a single town hall here. It has been over a year and a half- nearly 600 days- since Ryan has held a public meeting with his constituents.”
Could this be the year Paul Ryan is finally sent packing? It should be as he should get the strongest rebuke possible-that what he’s so proud of is simply unacceptable. He said this is a life long dream of his, that he dreamt of this in college keg parties(!)-to gut healthcare. He must now pay the price.
So Yankovich is absolutely worth checking out.
I would also urge you to check me, Mike Sax, your humble blogger running against Peter King in NY-2 out. King-naturally-voted for TrumpCare and is a long time bigot-sort of a Trumpian before Trump who in 2004 said there are too many Mosques in this country.
Send him and Paul Ryan home to another keg party.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
