Freedom Caucus and Senate GOPers Already Working on ObamaCare Repeal
Certainly liberals and the #Resistance are making life very tough for all the GOPers who voted for TrumpCare and rightly so. Every GOPer who voted for this must be punished, it’s that simple.
GOPers are not having much fun nor should they be.
Rod Blum had a very tough day:
“Rep. Rod Blum abruptly ended an interview Monday with a local Iowa TV station, apparently unhappy with a line of questioning about who would be allowed into the series of town hall events he is holding this week in his district.”
“Prior to airing the abbreviated interview, KCRG-TV’s anchors explained that the station’s interview with Blum had been in the works for weeks and that the children surrounding the congressman during the interview were there at his request.”
“The conversation between Blum and reporter Josh Scheinblum appeared somewhat tense from the moment it began as the legislator defended his decision to check the IDs of those attending his scheduled town hall meeting and only allow in those who were from his district. “We don’t need people from Chicago there or Des Moines there or Minneapolis there. I don’t represent them. They should go talk to their representatives at their town hall meetings.”
“On a follow up question, Blum again insisted that “I don’t represent all Iowans. I represent the first district of Iowa. That would be like saying ‘shouldn’t I be able to, even though I live in Dubuque, go vote in Iowa City during the election because I’d like to vote in that district instead?’”
“Scheinblum replied by asking Blum if he would still be willing to accept a donation from a Republican in Iowa City, a question that prompted the congressman to scoff and announce “I’m done” as he stood up to remove his microphone. “This is ridiculous. He’s going to sit here and just badger me,” Blum said, seemingly gesturing to a staff member of his off camera.”
“The children Blum had insisted on using as a backdrop for the interview filed out with him as he left. The entire interview lasted just longer than two minutes.”
I’ve got to give this reporter, Scheninblum, credit-it’s the perfect response. Unless you only take donations from within your district this is pretty arbitrary. He can’t take two minutes of questions but has no problem taking away 24 million people’s insurance.
Liberals are fighting fire with fire:
“Democrats, already frothing with anger over losing the White House to Donald Trump, are seething anew over the advancing Republican plan to gut Obamacare. Now, many on the left want to translate that fury into political tactics meant to exact maximum pain on Republicans.”
“Now, some liberal groups and activists are hoping to use macabre theatrics to gin up voter frustration toward Republicans over what Democrats view as a disastrous change in health care policy.”
“It’s a far more in-your-face tack than that being taken by more establishment organs of the Democratic Party, and the liberals behind it say that’s exactly the point.”
“We must be far more visceral,” said Jason Haber, a Manhattan real estate investor who started a super PAC that he said will host mock funerals — including “tombstones, coffins, even eulogies” — later this month for “the constituents that will be killed as a result of losing access to health care.”
Haber, who has worked in New York Democratic politics, said “in the age of Trump, nothing short of blunt and brute force will work as a counterweight,” adding, “We can’t win based on the merit of our ideas but rather on the way in which we deliver that message.”
He actually touches on something I’ve believed a long time-probably going back to Mitch McConnell’s scorched earth obstruction of Obama: having the right ideas are not enough. It helps but you need more.
Democrats will have to keep up the good work because the GOP is going to do this if they can get away with it. Nor should we assume that Mitch McConnell is going to save us. The math is not easy for the GOP Senate but they will certainly pull out all the stops.
They already are.

They will go through with this if we don’t #Resist.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
