The Democrats are Coming! Christine Pellegrino’s Huge Upset for NY 9 Assembly
As those of you reading me a little while know, I am pushing hard to become the Democrat’s nominee for the District 2 House race to finally depose Trumpster Peter King who’s been ensconced in power 25 years. He supports the Muslim ban, voted for that odious TrumpCare-after pretending he wasn’t fure for two months-and last we’ve seen of him he’s been defending Mike Flynn.
He is your typical GOPer that puts #PartyOverCountry.
In that effort, I commissioned a poll with some interesting results. It seems that once respondents were exposed to my views vs. King’s I cut the deficit between us to just 11 points.
Here is a pretty nice endorsement from a Twitter friend.

And yes also consider a donation.
Even if you don’t live in the state. In the age of Trump and the #Resistance we can’t afford to only support our own local races. For my part I’ve send a few hundred to Jon Ossoff and will send a little more in the next few weeks.
Whatever you have, every little bit helps.
Ok, so I commissioned the poll and am asking for donations. LOL. What’s next? So, currently I’m working on networking-getting to know folks in the local party out here in NY 2. I’ve had some success-I met Duwayne Gregory himself-who ran against King in 2016. Very nice guy but he came up a little short.
I’ve made a few other good contacts. And-I went to a few fundraisers for: Christine Pellegrino. This for two reasons: one I really wanted her to win and thought she’d make a great Assemblywoman in the 9th District.
And yes, also to show the folks in the local party that I’m a team player who will help everyone, not just myself. It’s clear that we’ve now earned a few brownie points.
On Friday I got a call from Ms. Pellegrino’s campaign asking if I could phone bank in the next few days. I spoke with a very nice volunteer. I expressed some reluctance-nothing against Pellegrino of course; I lvoe her-but I explained that while I’m happy to help Christie, I am also hoping to make my own run.
This volunteer gave me the magic words-she said she’d volunteer for me when Pellegrino’s election was over.
So me and my best buddy Kev went over to Massapequa and phone banked for about three hours on Monday. Kev is my best friend and roommate and if my campaign gets off the ground he’ll also be my press secretary!
The folks at the campaign on Monday were impressed with our work ethic and how many calls we made but, you got to understand-me and Kev met at another job back in 2013 selling chemical products to maintenance guys. So phone banking is fairly natural.
As for Christie herself she looked grateful when she saw both of us killing the phones, but to be honest, I assumed it’d be a tough up hill climb for her. Not that she wasn’t a fine candidate-she is a teacher with a passion for fighting for clean air, etc-but because her district is fairly conservative.
And yet, despite all odds, she did it:
“For the second time in a span of hours, the Democratic Party has pulled off a victory in a special election that didn’t initially look to be winnable. Earlier this evening, we reported that Democrat Edie DesMarais had won the race for New Hampshire state legislature in a district that had never been won by a Democrat before (link). And just now, Democratic candidate Christine Pellegrino has been named the winner in a New York state assembly race where she’d been given virtually no chance.”
“Pellegrino made the announcement about her victory via her own Twitter page this evening (link), flipping the seat for the Democrats and delivering the second blow of the evening to the Republican Party. She went on to post the overall voting totals (link), which revealed that it wasn’t even a particularly close race in the end.”
And these were not Dem districts by a long shot.
“What’s particularly notable about these two Democratic Party victories this evening is that Donald Trump had won both of those districts handily in November. But his erratic and ineffective behavior in office, combined with his exploding scandals, seem to have left his own base hesitant about turning out and voting Republican on this day.”
So these were both Trump districts
“This further points to the Democrats having a strong edge heading into both the off-year elections in November 2017 and the Congressional midterms in 2018. Photo courtesy Christine Pellegrino.”
In other news, Jon Ossoff has a 7 point edge in a recent poll.
The Democrats are coming, the Democrats are coming, the Democrats are coming!
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
