Good News is I Make the Local News; the Bad News is They Buried the Lede
On Saturday sometime after 2 pm me and my buddy Kev-who is my press secretary for this budding campaign I’m trying to launch-went to a healthcare rally in Garden City. The protest was in front of GOP State Senator Kemp Hannon’s office for not bringing the New York Health Act to the floor.
So look who made the papers:
“Demonstrators rallied for universal health care outside the office of State Senator Kemp Hannon in Garden City.”
“They demanded that the State Senator release the New York Health Act from a committee vote, and instead allow a vote on the Senate floor.”
“They say Hannon and state Republicans are holding up a similar bill in the committee, preventing senators from voting on instituting a single-payer universal health care system for all New Yorkers.”
“We are demanding that Senator Hannon release this vote,” shouted Anthony Zenkus of Huntington. “Let the senators vote and show where they stand on covering all New Yorkers.”
Pauline Salotti of Patchogue said, ” We’re a group that’s trying to gather some support to organize and see if we can move our senator. It’s a common sense approach.”
Mike Sax from Bayshore added, “I feel very strongly about the right to health care. It’s not a privilege; it’s a right. And we want to fight very hard against Paul Ryan and Donald Trump to take away people’s health care. And we believe in health care for all.”
“Those rallying say Hannon should use his role as chair of the healthcare community to support and pass single-payer healthcare in New York State.”
Bold and italics added.
If you watch the video on the link I’m a little after the 1 minute mark.
Hopefully you realize I’m Mike Sax. Note that I was the only one of the three quoted who mentioned Trump and Ryan. If anything perhaps I should have mentioned the New York Health Act first. But of course, your pushed for time and I just wanted to get in the most important stuff.
My one big gripe-they didn’t identify me as a candidate for NY 2. We had told him that at the top. Could he not even have included ‘Exploring a run for Congressional District 2?’
So I make the newspaper and tv but I don’t get the most important fact out. Maybe a few of my readers and friends can take pity on me and make a donation today… LOL
It was kind of funny actually because it turns out this volunteer, Diann, from Christine Pellegrino’s successful campaign kind of ran that rally. And her and I had fallen out this week-she said she could help me then became angry at me for friend requesting a few of her friends on Facebook.
She claims that a few of the people I friend requested were family members. She kept asking me why I friend requested her family. Uh-because I don’t know them and had no idea they were your family? Is that possible?
Good to see she has the right priorities-who liked who on FB. I tried to apologize but she wasn’t hearing it. Maybe people have different sensibilities-where simply asking for a request is seen as very forward- but I’m from Twitter. On Twitter people are friending you all the time. You either reciprocate or don’t. Or if you really don’t like them, you block. Seems simple enough.
Anyway, we got the last laugh on her as I got onto tv at her own rally-and she didn’t. Karma…
Again, though, I call on all those who feel bad for me not being identified as a candidate-and for being so viscously attacked by Dianne just for FB requesting a few folks-who of course can always decline-to please send me a donation.
Both for the campaign-though honestly, I do some prolific writing for you folks every single day-do I not? I mean, think about it-why are the same folks who are willing to pay for a NYT subscription or a Washington Post not willing to help some of us liberal blogs-Palmer Report, etc-out here?
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
