Bombshell: Comey Incriminated Both Jeff Sessions and Mike Pence With His Testimony
So, was it good for you? In my previous post before the hearing I likened Comey’s Memos to the ‘political version of 50 Shades of Grey’ and watching the full hearings, didn’t disappoint.
Ok, Senator John McCain disappointed-who seemed to totally confuse the Hillary email probe and the Russia Trump probe.
In fairness, I never thought McCain showed any signs of age-until today. Maybe he’s in a state of dissonance of how far his party has fallen in being complicit in this Russia collusion and has retreated in his mind to a simpler, happier time.
But nothing else disappointed. Comey has this evocative talent in his memos to taking you right there to what happened and it was also present in his testimony.
Right from the start he clearly stated that he believed he was fired for the Russia probe. The GOP for it’s part had little answer to this-and didn’t really try to answer it.
…and also that none of the GOP's various defenses of Trump provide an alternate explanation for why Comey was fired.

The GOP defenses seemed to amount to that he didn’t tell Trump to stop the Flynn investigation just said he hoped he would. As Comey says, coming from the POTUS that’s not seen as a request but an order.
Tom Cotton tried to get Comey to say Trump didin’t collude with Russia and he didn’t get it.

As for why he wrote the memos, Comey came right out and said it: he was worried that Trump would otherwise get away with lying about their conversations. Another big GOP talking point was that Comey didn’t immediately resign or castigate Trump.
Here’s the question though: how would that have protected the investigation? If Comey resigned, wouldn’t that just give Trump what he wanted without having to do what he ended up doing-engaging in obstruction in firing him? If Comey had resigned, then Trump would have been much freer to get someone in their to shutdown the investigation.
There were two other big bombshells. One regarding Jeff Sessions one regarding Mike Pence.
IMO, biggest news of Comey hearing is that the FBI has classified facts showing that Sessions role in Russia probe would be inappropriate.

Yes. When Comey said that it was though that was before he mentioned Mike Pence.
“After characterizing some of President Trump’s justifications for firing him as “lies, plain and simple,” former FBI Director James Comey moved on in his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee this morning. Specifically, he moved on to Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon asked Comey why he and others in the FBI’s top brass decided not to brief Sessions on Comey’s problematic interactions with the president, and Comey initially gave the same reasoning he offered in the opening statement released to the public yesterday: That his team believed Sessions would soon recuse himself from the Russia investigation.”
“Does this indicate Sessions’ entanglement with the Russian Connection goes deeper than the meetings with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the election, which he subsequently failed to report to a Senate committee during his confirmation process? (It appeared as though Sessions may have lied under oath to that committee, though no public investigation or charges followed.) Did Sessions only recuse himself because of the dispute over his statement to Congress, or was there further reasoning involved? Late last month, it emerged Sessions may have had another undisclosed meeting with Kislyak.”
“And then there were the reports that Sessions offered to resign recently.”
Ahem… Louise Mensch had been arguing that Jeff Sessions is much more deeply implicated than is publicly known.
For those who claim she has gotten nothing right or been in no way prescient in her reporting, this piece is from February 7. This was before we even knew that Sessions had perjured himself in his Senate confirmation testimony.
Now we know Sessions has perjured himself more than once as we keep learning about more meetings with Kisylak. Also we know that Session’s campaign deputy, Jeff Gordon, was who got the RNC platform changed. Recall that Sessions and Gordon introduced Carter Page to the campaign.
Comey’s comments suggest that there is considerably more beyond public-non Mensch-knowledge. So Mensch is worth another read and Sessions himself may be in some serious trouble.
But Comey also dropped a bombshell about ‘poor old Mike Pence’ who Michael Flynn just lied to and lied to-apparently as transition leader, Pence just had no way of knowing about Flynn’s many problems in advance. None at all.
That’s not what Comey suggested:
“James Comey Just Incriminated VP Mike Pence & No One Caught It.”
Not to make it about me-I wouldn’t if only someone else would!-but I did notice immediately. But I digress.
No one was talking about the part where the former director of the FBI implicated the vice president of the United States in a crime.
Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon asked Comey if Mike Pence knew that Michael Flynn had communications with Russia.
Comey said yes.
This is explosive. This means liberals may have a chance to steal back the White House. Once Trump is inevitably impeached, progressives are terrified at the thought of such a backwards thinking VP becoming president.
There is no way in hell Mike Pence would have won the 2016 presidential election, and now, it seems, there is a light at the end of the road. A light that may lead to a criminal investigation into Mike Pence, followed by an impeachment.
It could happen.”
I personally don’t like to get too far out in front. Impeaching Trump himself is no given. It’s still not clear that this can happen prior to a Dem takeover.
And then actual forced removal from office is an even higher bar that requires a huge Senate super majority vote.
But it is a fact that Pence’s claims of total innocence of any knowledge here was never very persuasive though the media largely accepted it credulously.
Yesterday, after the Comey memo referring to the grandfather clock and Pence, Sessions, and Kushner leaving the room came out, Pence abruptly cancelled an interview.
While Bipartisan and myself both caught onto this explosive information about Pence, few other media outlets seemed to have noticed yet. But when they do Pence as well as Sessions is in for it.
P.S. As we saw in my poll out last week, the long awaited poll results are in, and right now I’m just 11 points down vs. Peter King (GOP-NY-District 2). And the voters don’t even know who I am yet.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
