The Last Time Trump Testified Under Oath, He Lied 30 Times
Herr Trump is truly king of projection-or should I say Fuhrer of projection? During the campaign, he’d warned that Hillary would lead to a constitutional crisis as she’d be under investigation. Now, Herr Trump is literally under criminal investigation.
(16) Not to put too fine a point on it—the White House is now a crime scene. Mueller is focusing on crimes that occurred in the White House.

A new tactic for Trump is to pretend he’s eager to testify under oath. I doubt that. A lot of the other relevant witnesses have feigned public interest too, but what they’ve said behind the scenes was quite different.
“Pressed by Van Susteren on why the probe is taking so long, Swalwell said he wants the House’s investigation to continue “as fast as possible,” but that witnesses are intentionally making that harder.”
“Some witnesses have suggested that they want to come in [to testify] but they don’t want to give us the documents,” Swalwell said. “Greta, that would be like a doctor examining a patient but only making an analysis based on what the patient says.”
My guess-Trump is doing something like this. Feigning that he wants to testify but in truth fighting it every step of the way. And the last time he testified, it was not auspicious.
That was in his lawsuit against the author Timothy L. O’Brien who had argued Trump may not be a bilionaire in his Trump biography book. Initially Trump had said he was willing to work with O’Brien on the book, then he backed out.
“My Lawyers Got Trump to Admit 30 Lies Under Oath”
“Trump sued me, then had to acknowledge 30 times during a deposition that he had lied over the years about a wide range of issues.”
“A decade ago, my lawyers questioned Trump under oath during a deposition in a libel case he filed against me for a biography I wrote, “TrumpNation.” (Trump lost the case in 2011.) Trump had to acknowledge 30 times during that deposition that he had lied over the years about a wide range of issues: his ownership stake in a large Manhattan real estate development; the cost of a membership to one of his golf clubs; the size of the Trump Organization; his wealth; the rate for his speaking appearances; how many condos he had sold; the debt he owed, and whether he borrowed money from his family to stave off personal bankruptcy.”
“Trump also lied during the deposition about his business relationships with organized crime figures.”
When my lawyers asked him whether he planned to sever his partnership with a developer named Felix Sater because of Sater’s mob ties, Trump said he hadn’t decided.
Good old Felix Sater. You think maybe he’s a ‘person of interest’ for Mueller’s investigation? Remember back in a 2013 interview where Trump walked out of an interview after being asked about his continued relationship with Sater
You can see why Trump didn’t want to cop to knowing who Sater was-a Russian mafia who went to prison for stabbing a man in the face. Trump’s continued business relationship with Sater itself could be grounds for prosecution.
But then there was Sater’s role in the (in)famous Ukrainian ‘peace plan’-in truth an outrageous giveaway to Russia-along with Trump’s dodgy lawyer, Michael Cohen, who hand delivered it to Trump Tower.
Cohen is no doubt another ‘person of interest’ for Mueller.
Back to Timothy O’Brien:
“Have you previously associated with people you knew were members of organized crime?” one of my lawyers asked.
“No, I haven’t,” Trump responded.
That wasn’t true, however. Trump, despite what he said in the deposition, had knowingly associated with mob figures before.”
But then, as O’Leary documents, Trump has a long history with mob figures and his story has changed with the winds of his own convenience.
Again, bear in mind, this lawsuit was Trump trying to get O’Brien for libel-as the author suggested his net worth was possibly ‘only’ $350 to $450 million dollars.
O’Brien doesn’t believe there are any tapes.
“And what about those tapes? Trump revived speculation about hidden White House tapes again on Friday, suggesting in the Rose Garden that he will advise the world about whether they exist in the “very near future.”
“As I noted last month, I don’t think any tapes exist. Trump told me and other reporters over the years that he had a taping system in his Trump Tower office that he used to record journalists meeting with him. But when he testified under oath in the deposition for his suit against me, Trump acknowledged that he was “not equipped to tape-record.”
If Trump lies 30 times under oath to Mueller we’ll truly be in a Brave New World.
P.S. As noted in previous post, the Gravis poll is out and it shows me, your buddy and humble blogger, Mike Sax, up 51 percent to 41% for Peter King in NY 2. I know-knock me over with a feather too. But that’s what the numbers say.
They indicate that I have a real chance. But I need help and support ASAP. If you’re in NY 2 contact me if you’re interested in volunteering or just offer your support and vowing to tell all your friends.
And-yes-I do need donations if I have any hope of bringing around the local party to seeing that I am the chance to break out of the party’s long losing streak against King.
Whether you live in NY 2 or across the country, you can donate. As yourself whether you cannot afford even $5 or $10 dollars.
The coming media release Gravis promised should get us some publicity. But we have to start building a campaign infrastructure before the naysayers who say ‘Wait your turn’ can mobilize.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Peter King is on the House intelligence committee. I think we all know that he will never be any part of the solution for getting to the bottom of Trump Russia.
Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
We can have a Dem Congress, we must have a Dem Cogress, and we will.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
