Poor Little Rich Boy: Special Counsel is Investigating Kushner’s Business Dealings
It’s like what Zizek likes about Stalinist logic: They are both worse. That is true for the reason that Jared Kushner met with Kisylak and the Russian banker back in December.
1. That plan to establish a back channel so they could speak to Russia without the knowledge of the U.S. government-was that an act of treason? Is Jared Kushner a traitor?
2. Or was it just to use his position with Trump to get a sweetheart business deal for his struggling NY 5th Ave property with a sanctioned Russian bank?
You see how both are worse…
We already knew that the FBI and Robert Mueller considered Kushner a person of interest in the Russia probe. Now we know that there is interest in Kushner’s business dealings.
“Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III is investigating the finances and business dealings of Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, as part of the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.”
“FBI agents and federal prosecutors have also been examining the financial dealings of other Trump associates, including former national security adviser Michael Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Carter Page, who was listed as a foreign-policy adviser for the campaign.”
“The Washington Post previously reported that investigators were scrutinizing meetings that Kushner held with Russians in December — first with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, and then with Sergey Gorkov, the head of a state-owned Russian development bank. At the time of that report, it was not clear that the FBI was investigating Kushner’s business dealings.”
Kushner and his sanctioned Russian bank haven’t got their stories straight:
“The White House has said that the subsequent meeting with the banker was a pre-inauguration diplomatic encounter, unrelated to business matters. The Russian bank, Vnesheconombank, which has been the subject of U.S. sanctions following Russia’s annexation of Crimea, has said the session was held for business reasons because of Kushner’s role as head of his family’s real estate company. The meeting occurred as Kushner’s company was seeking financing for its troubled $1.8 billion purchase of an office building on Fifth Avenue in New York, and it could raise questions about whether Kushner’s personal financial interests were colliding with his impending role as a public official.”
“Enabling a dangerous president: The Jared Kushner timeline.”
“The president’s son-in-law is the Trump era’s Forrest Gump.”
That’s not a very nice thing to say about a poor little rich boy. But in all seriousness, I think Saturday Night Live called this one-like they called But what about your emails, Secretary Clinton?
Jeff Sessions is Forrest Gump. We’ll see if they do another Forrest Sessions opening after his testimony this week-‘I just got so nervous when this Senator from up North asked me if I’d met ANY Russians…’
Back to Salon:
“Jared Kushner (J.D./M.B.A., New York University, ’07) has a law degree from one of the finest universities in the country. He understands the threat that Trump’s words and deeds pose to democracy and the rule of law, but he has been in close proximity to Trump scandals that threaten both. He is a man of few public words, but his policy portfolio for Trump is enormous. He is uniquely positioned to keep Trump from running amok, but he has joined the ranks of Trump’s enablers.”
“Kushner is also the administration’s Forrest Gump. When Trump met with business leaders on Jan. 23, Kushner attended. On Jan. 29, 2017 — three days after Acting Attorney General Sally Yates had told White House counsel Don McGahn that national security adviser Mike Flynn could be subject to Russian blackmail — Kushner was sitting in the Oval Office with Trump and Flynn. When Trump conferred with government cyber-security experts on Jan. 31, Kushner was with him. And on May 8, 2017, when Trump confided to a small group of advisers that he was going to fire FBI Director James Comey, Kushner was among the trusted few.”
You know who else was there? Mike Pence, who has now smartly hired a lawyer.
But I find this Salon piece sort of interesting. As has been pointed out, a lot of the leaks originate from the WH. Part of the reason for Trump’s record leaks is the people that work for him leak on him constantly for all kinds of reasons-some to influence, him; many because they frankly despise him.
Speaking of leaks from inside the WH:
???WH source: Alarmed Trump staffers are starting to talk about WHEN (not if) Trump will resign. Wondering if Pence will be forced out, too.

And when you look at that Salon piece:
“Jared Kushner (J.D./M.B.A., New York University, ’07) has a law degree from one of the finest universities in the country. He understands the threat that Trump’s words and deeds pose to democracy and the rule of law, but…”
The question that begs is: Is Jared himself the leaker here? It sure sounds like it.
P.S. So the Gravis poll against Peter King NY2 and it has good news-almost too good to believe.
In my March poll I trailed King by 11 and thought that was very good news. Now Gravis has me up by 10? Still, the moment of truth is next week when Gravis writes up the press release.
And-yes-I do need donations if I have any hope of bringing around the local party to seeing that I am the chance to break out of the party’s long losing streak against King.
Whether you live in NY 2 or across the country, you can donate. As yourself whether you cannot afford even $5 or $10 dollars.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Peter King is on the House intelligence committee. I think we all know that he will never be any part of the solution for getting to the bottom of Trump Russia.
Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
We can have a Dem Congress, we must have a Dem Cogress, and we will.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
