Sen. Dianne Feinstein is Worried Trump Will Fire Both Bob Mueller and Rod Rosenstein
With all the talk about leaks, some of the biggest leaks come from the WH.
???WH source: Alarmed Trump staffers are starting to talk about WHEN (not if) Trump will resign. Wondering if Pence will be forced out, too.

We looked at Pence’s hiring his own outside counsel this morning.
He’s certainly in a lot of potential problems for his party in the Flynn caper-‘Michael Flynn certainly has a story to tell’ as well as his own part in the Comey firing. Can you say obstruction of justice?
But say this for the racist Hoosier who can’t be alone with a woman: he’s smart enough to lawyer up and shut up.
How much Trump’s own lawyers and staff wish he would do the same.
Robert Mueller finds it pretty helpful too

He’s got it backwards. The only people who want him to shut up is his staff and his lawyers. The MSM and us Democrats and Trump haters? Keep it coming baby. His own tweets are like the biggest part of his case-along with his interviews, etc.
Believe me, it’s as good for us as for you.
In fact, the lawyers are now lawyering up:
You know it is going down when lawyers are lawyering up.

Still, Trump keeps tweeting and digging his own deep hole deeper. Amazing. In a good way-I’m not complaining:
“Trump appears to confirm that he’s facing obstruction probe.”
“The president also appears to attack his deputy attorney general in a tweet.”
“President Donald Trump acknowledged on Friday that he is under investigation for firing FBI Director James Comey, and appeared to attack his own deputy attorney general for launching a special counsel probe that has intensified in recent days.:
“I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt,” Trump tweeted.
Well, thanks for confirming that. I can see why that helps you in doing so.
“The president did not immediately clarify the tweet, which likely refers to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, but could also refer to special counsel Robert Mueller, who is overseeing the larger investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between Trump’s campaign and the Kremlin.”
“Rosenstein is overseeing the probe by Mueller, which reportedly has expanded to include whether Trump obstructed justice when he fired Comey and allegedly pressured intelligence officials to downplay or undermine the Russia investigation.”
Soon after the tweet, an ABC article came out with sources that say Rosenstein has said he may have to recuse.
Coincidence? These days the Occam’s Razor assumption is that it’s not. With Trump Russia there are way too many coincidences to bank on.
This also led to a sharp rebuke by Senator Dianne Feinstein:
“Trump’s unusual tweet prompted a sharp rebuke from the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which oversees matters related to the Justice Department.”
“I’m growing increasingly concerned that the president will attempt to fire not only Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating possible obstruction of justice, but also Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein who appointed Mueller,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said in a statement.”
This is particularly notable because Senator Feinstein is not given to hyperbole.
She had already requested that Comey come to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee next week. This is now going to lead to Rosenstein having to do so too.
So by all means, Herr Trump, keep on Tweetin’.

Per Paul Waldman:
“We are heading toward Donald Trump’s version of the Saturday Night Massacre.”
“While the details aren’t precisely the same, the parallels are many. A president under a widening investigation for (among other things) possible obstruction of justice. A special counsel targeted by the president’s ire. High-ranking officials in the Justice Department unwilling to put loyalty to the president above their obligations to the country, and losing their jobs because of it. All that’s left is the dramatic round of firings and resignations and the headlong rush toward impeachment.”
Waldman points out that Nixon didn’t have Twitter-but, he would have been smart enough not to have used it in this way if he did. He did at least try to conceal the tapes, obstruction, etc. Trump’s particular brand of political Turrets makes it pretty easy. So much of the case if simply prima facie evidence-public statements.
“There is something serious going on between Trump and Rosenstein, who is overseeing the investigation of special counsel Robert Mueller. Because Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, only Rosenstein has the authority to fire Mueller. And it’s plain that Trump would like to rid himself of this meddlesome special counsel; the question is whether he will try.”
In this light, Rosenstein’s statement last night perhaps makes more sense. Trump is leaning on him very hard-perhaps this jibe about leaks was to placate him?
“Here’s the Daily Beast today, confirming how personal this has gotten for Trump:
“He’s furious at Rosenstein, but the list of his people who enrage him is ever-growing,” a longtime Trump confidant, who recently spoke to the president, told The Daily Beast. “He has no qualms about throwing [Rosenstein] under a bus.”
“If Rosenstein is considering recusal, it’s because of his role in the Comey firing — which, let’s not forget, Trump admitted both on national television and in a conversation with Russian officials in the Oval Officethat he did out of unhappiness with the Russia investigation. Rosenstein could become a witness in the obstruction investigation, which would make it problematic for him to be overseeing Mueller. The authority would then fall to Brand. Is Trump going to go after her next? What happens if he orders her to fire Mueller? Would she resign in protest like Richardson and Ruckelshaus, or follow orders like Bork?”

“In an ordinary scandal, you have some initial set of misdeeds, and then possibly a cover-up that adds more misdeeds that could themselves be criminal. In the Russia scandal we could have those two sets of actions, but on top of them we have a paranoid, infantile president seemingly determined to put himself in ever-greater political and legal jeopardy. The more we learn about how deep Robert Mueller’s investigation is reaching, the higher the chances that Trump will, in a moment of rage, order Mueller to be fired. If you think things are dramatic and absurd right now, just wait — it’s going to get worse.”
Only going to get worse. On that I think we can bank. Safe even to bank the mortgage on that one.
P.S. So the Gravis poll against Peter King NY2 and it has good news-almost too good to believe.
In my March poll I trailed King by 11 and thought that was very good news. Now Gravis has me up by 10? Still, the moment of truth is next week when Gravis writes up the press release.
And-yes-I do need donations if I have any hope of bringing around the local party to seeing that I am the chance to break out of the party’s long losing streak against King.
Whether you live in NY 2 or across the country, you can donate. As yourself whether you cannot afford even $5 or $10 dollars.
There is nothing more important in getting answers to Trump-Russia collusion than a Democratic House in 2019. Peter King is on the House intelligence committee. I think we all know that he will never be any part of the solution for getting to the bottom of Trump Russia.
Please donate to help me in my part of the effort to fight for a Dem House.
We can have a Dem Congress, we must have a Dem Cogress, and we will.
Thank you. We must have a Dem House. And so, we will.
