Trump the Biggest Traitor in US History is Calling Athletes Traitors
Trump likes to believe he has ‘exceptional political instincts.’ Then why is he picking a fight with Lebron James or Steph Curry?
NFL head coach John Harbaugh seems to have better political instincts.
“As President Trump called for NFL owners to suspend or fire players who protested the national anthem, players and coaches answered defiantly Sunday morning, with most members of the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars either standing with their arms locked in solidarity or taking a knee on the field.”
“Ravens Coach John Harbaugh joined his players, locking arms, and Jaguars owner Shahid Khan, a Pakistani American billionaire and businessman, joined his players before the game’s kickoff at 9:30 a.m. in London’s Wembley Stadium. Ravens Hall of Famer Ray Lewis also took a knee during the anthem.”
“The dramatic show of defiance comes hours after Trump on Sunday morning renewed his demand that NFL owners fire or suspend players who kneel during the national anthem in protest, again urging that fans should boycott the sport to force change.”
“If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast,” Trump wrote. “Fire or suspend!”
I must have missed the part where Trump has some sort of executive power over the NFL. For Trump to accuse anyone of being unpatriotic is ironic in the extreme:

What all this highlights again is that Trump and those who work for him have no understanding for what democracy is all about.
Like Steve Mnuchin:
“Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin backed President Donald Trump’s days of attacks on NFL players, saying athletes “can do free speech on their own time.”
“Since a Friday rally in Alabama, Trump has suggested players who have knelt during the national anthem in order to protest racism and police brutality should be kicked out of the league. Most players who have participated in the protests are black.”
“I think what the president is saying is that the owners should have a rule that players should have to stand in respect for the national anthem,” Mnuchin said on ABC’s “This Week.” “This isn’t about Democrats, it’s not about Republicans, it’s not about race, it’s not about free speech. They can do free speech on their own time. That this is about respect for the military and first responders in the country.”
Mnuchin made similar remarks Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“Trump’s comments on Friday night and in subsequent tweets were expected to set off a new wave of protests on Sunday.”
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b—- off the field right now,’” Trump said during his Friday night rally, ostensibly held to help GOP Sen. Luther Strange win reelection.
Coming from Mnuchin of all people-the Foreclosure King who charged the public for a private jet for his wedding-this is particularly outrageous.
Again, they lack understanding of what democracy is about-which is kind of obvious by the way Trump and his hacks comport themselves.
Freedom of speech is for everybody-including those you don’t agree with.
I don’t know that I agree with everything those taking a knee are saying/doing but it’s their right to say it.
I’m not a huge fan of Colin Kapernick-his comments during the election-one of them is a racist the other’s a liar-were quite foolish and worse, harmful.
But he has a right to say it. And athletes have a right to express their concern and outrage over police violence under Jeff Sessions anyway they choose.
