But HIS Emails: When are the Investigations of Jared Kushner’s Private Emails Starting?
The MSM always dismisses the Comey effect with ‘nobody told her to set up private email.’ Ok, so who told Jared Kushner to do it? And why is it not the scandal now it was then?
I mean is Chris Cillizza going to write 50 pieces about Kushner’s email over the next 3 months?
I don’t know about you, but I’m going with ‘no.’
So when does the FBI start investigating this? When does the GOP start? After all, they’re STILL investigating Hillary’s emails even though:
1. She’s not in the Oval Office
2. The FBI already went through them like a fine tooth comb and found no wrong doing.
3. Trump is in the Oval Office and is being investigated for something much more sinister than using private email: collusion with Russian government to rig a US election.
Russia, if you’re listening.
The sheer hypocrisy rankles. As Hillary says in her What Happened:
“Since the election, we’ve learned that Vice President Mike Pence used private email for official business when he was Governor of Indiana, like so many other state and federal officials across our country (including, by the way, many staff in the Bush White House, who used a private RNC server for government business and then “lost” more than twenty million emails). We’ve learned that Trump’s transition team copied highly sensitive documents and removed them from a secure facility. We’ve learned that members of Trump’s White House staff use encrypted messaging apps that seem to evade federal records laws. And we know now that Trump associates are under federal investigation for far more serious things. Yet most of the fulminating critics have gone silent. It’s almost as if they never really cared about the proper maintenance of government records or the finer points of retroactive classification, and the whole thing was just a convenient political piñata.”
That’s exactly what it was, all that it was which is clear by the fact that Kushner-and many in the WH use private email and there’s been no furor:
“Kushner used private email to conduct White House business.”
“The senior adviser set up the account after the election. Other West Wing officials have also used private email accounts for official business.”
But, but, but-I thought that was why Hillary could never be President! We can’t have people in the WH using private emails for official business. Oh, I get it-only if their name is Hillary.
“Presidential son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner has corresponded with other administration officials about White House matters through a private email account set up during the transition last December, part of a larger pattern of Trump administration aides using personal email accounts for government business.”
“Kushner uses his private account alongside his official White House email account, sometimes trading emails with senior White House officials, outside advisers and others about media coverage, event planning and other subjects, according to four people familiar with the correspondence. POLITICO has seen and verified about two dozen emails.”
“Aides who have exchanged emails with Kushner on his private account since President Donald Trump took office in January include former chief of staff Reince Priebus, former chief strategist Steve Bannon, National Economic Council director Gary Cohn, and spokesman Josh Raffel, according to emails described to or shown to POLITICO. In some cases, those White House officials have emailed Kushner’s account first, said people familiar with the messages. At times, Bannon and Priebus have also used private email accounts to correspond with Kushner and others.”
Well, I think all of these folks need to be investigated over it, after all, there’s the Hillary Precedent.
In all seriousness, we do need to see the content of these emails as they could be relevant to the Russia investigation.
Kushner claims that he only used the private email account for private business.
“Mr. Kushner uses his White House email address to conduct White House business,” Abbe Lowell, a lawyer for Kushner, said in a statement Sunday. “Fewer than 100 emails from January through August were either sent to or returned by Mr. Kushner to colleagues in the White House from his personal email account. These usually forwarded news articles or political commentary and most often occurred when someone initiated the exchange by sending an email to his personal rather than his White House address.”
Less than 100. Ok, let’s see them then. We sure can’t take Jared’s word to whether they are private or not. Remember the lies and and Junior-and Fuhrer Trump himself-told about the Russia meeting of June, 2016?
Kushner also has had many misadventures due to emails-if you believe him. He claims he left over hundreds of Russia contacts off his security clearance form because his aides hit send on the email before he had the chance.
He claims to have not read the subject line of the Russia meeting:
“a source close to the situation told BuzzFeed that Mr Kushner did not read to the bottom of the email, missing out key words like “Russian government” and therefore did not realise what the meeting was about.”
“The subject line of the email chain was “Re: Russia – Clinton – private and confidential”.
Oops! He read every word in the email except the important ones, the damning ones.
Bill Palmer also notes that someone high up in the Trump WH must have ratted Kushner out on the emails which adds yet another provocative note-as if we lacked those.
And there’s the rub. There’s no honor among thieves, but we’re finding out even less among traitors as in recent days Roger Stone and Corey Lewandowski have both been wishing that the other spends the rest of their life in prison.
Most importantly, Kushner’s private emails may hasten Mueller’s take down of Trump:
“Jared Kushner has been busted for regularly using private email in his role as a senior adviser in Donald Trump’s White House. This sets a new bar for irony, after Trump (and the media) spent the campaign flat out lying about a “Hillary Clinton private email scandal” that turned out not to have been a scandal at all. It also sets a new bar for hypocrisy. But more importantly, it may have just set a new bar for Special Counsel Robert Mueller.”
We’ll soon find out whether Kushner indeed broke the law with his use of private email while on the job. Politico was the first to break the general parameters of the story (link), but as these things tend to go, far more details will leak out in the coming days. If it turns out Kushner did something illegal in the process, Mueller’s job of getting to Trump just became a whole lot easier.”
It seems to me there’s two questions:
1. Did Kushner do anything illegal with his email setup?
2. Wether he did or did not, what might be in these emails that could help us with the Russia investigation? Whether regarding collusion, or obstruction of the investigation starting with the Comey firing? How about any comments about the Russia meeting that he attended with Manafort and Donald Jr?
Just like Michael Flynn’s lawyer said of Flynn, is likely true of Jared’s emails: They certainly have a story to tell.
