Did Political Opponents Order Claude Taylor to Blackball the Mike Sax NY2 Campaign?
UPDATE: When I was DMing with Claude Taylor I sent him a link to my Facebook page. When I tried to boost this on FB I got a message from FB that my account was disabled.
Yes as they say in economics-and all science-correlation doesn’t prove causality. But it’s a very interesting correlation.
I mean not to be PARANOID or anything but when the shoe fits. It simply fits a consistent fact pattern I’ve noticed since putting my hat in the ring for the NY2 2nd Congressional District.
Let me state at the outset that what matters is to finally defeat Peter ‘King Hamlet’ and end his 25 year reign.
I’m totally new to politics. But after the Infamy that happened on November 9, 2016 hopefully we can all agree we that’s what we need: regular Americans getting involved as there’s something deeply dysfunctional in our political system.
I personally consider our country to be in the throes of a clear and present Constitutional Crisis. The so-called POTUS is under investigation for colluding with the Russian government to rig an American Presidential election.
And so I feel sort of like the young men in the early 1940s-back then, unfortunately, women weren’t allowed in the armed forces-who would pray to God every night that WWII would end-just not too soon. As they wanted their own chance to fight and die for their country.
That’s how I feel about our America today. I had always said ‘One day I will run for elective office.’ But after seeing what was done to Hillary, the way the election was stolen from her I found myself saying ‘Today I will run for elective office.’
I set my sights high-on Congress in the NY2 district. Some, no doubt, would say I should go for local office first and let the candidates who check all the right boxes run for higher office. Here’s the trouble with that: for 25 years we’ve been nominating ‘box checkers’ in NY2-and before that NY3-and every single time Peter King has won-by 20 points, by 30 points, by 40 points.
So maybe we’ve had enough box checkers. Maybe it’s time for a regular person to run, someone who’s struggled in this same labor market as Joe and Jane Q Public.
Someone who’s not a professional politician or activist.
Ok, so Claude Taylor. He’s someone who I’ve followed-and he’s followed me for the last year or so. Ever since that rigged election. According to what he has told us he’s ‘Veteran of 3 presidential campaigns, served on White House staff (Clinton). Country over Party. We will get through this. Together. I’m Shaggy. Chaos Agent.”
This quote is directly from his Twitter profile page. Over time he’s obviously built up a pretty good following, as he gets a lot of information from intelligence sources he has since his years with the Clintons.
OR-so he says. There are many who accuse him of making it all up. I don’t know myself. I’ve always taken him at his word. This is my preference. If someone says they have inside connections and sources I give them the benefit of the doubt unless proven otherwise.
Lately, he’s taken to giving out RTs and shoutouts to various new candidates for the 2018 Congressional races.
In the first few weeks after he announced this he had given me regular shoutouts. Then something changed. A friend of one of my political opponents for the NY2 nomination complained that Taylor should be promoting him/her.
I’m not going to name names here. I don’t want to attack my fellow Democrats in this primary-the first Dem primary in NY2 in many years. But this is important.
Next thing I know Claude stopped give me tweets and shoutouts. Fair enough-it’s his right. But he has been a long time friend and had said he’d do so. What changed?
Earlier this week I asked him as I noted he had promoted my opponent multiple times over the last week but not our campaign.
He played the classic getting things twisted game where he made it as if I was somehow being unreasonable in asking. He claimed that he was promoting all these candidates but only I was being ‘a jerk about it.’
I don’t think I was being a jerk-just asking if my opponent’s friends had asked him not to support the Mike Sax NY2 campaign anymore.
But I apologized. After that he did give me another shoutout-though I noticed that even then, he tagged my opponent’s name before mine. It all seemed to suggest he was now preferring them.
Last night he RTed my tweet to him and this morning he gave me a shoutout in his tweet to support Congressional canddidates. But AGAIN our campaign was listed after our opponent’s.
Again, I was friends with Taylor for sometime. My opponent evidently became aware of Taylor’s shoutouts by watching me on Twitter.
But fair enough. I was just happy to get the shoutout.
Then a little later on Claude DMed me. I will quote him:
“Mike-your opponent looks like a good candidate. She has a decent website and is accepting donations via ActBlue. I don’t see a website for your campaign and I see a GoFundMe that’s only raised a few hundred. Honestly-and I mean no disrespect-which of you is more likely to defeat Peter King?”
I was actually relieved to receive this believe it or not. Because it showed me that I wasn’t wrong. I wasn’t being paranoid: her campaign or friends WERE going to Claude and telling him to drop me.
As to his critique, a few words:
I agree this is an unorthodox campaign. But after 25 years of orthodox candidates being walloped by Peter King that’s a feature not a bug. I do have a website as you can see as you’re reading it now.
I’m reaching a lot of folks on FB too.
As for as campaigns go there are different ways to skin a cat and different ways to win an election.
I agree that she is probably the favorite and has a good path to victory. But there is a path for us too. We have more than a few surprises up our sleeves.
Claude Taylor’s skepticism doesn’t discourage me-quiet the opposite. I relish nothing more than to prove skeptics wrong. There is more to life than checking all the right boxes and being a professional activist or Peter King wouldn’t still be here 25 years later.
One final note. What happened in this case with my NY2 opponent is nothing new. It fits a consistent pattern.
Sure, I’m an unorthodox candidate. But think of how far this campaign has already gotten. I am now a publicly recognized canddidate for the NY2 District in Newsday and by DuWayne Gregory-the NY2 candidate-and the Suffolk county Democrats.
And YES that is me there with Hillary Clinton-the proudest day of my life. This race is about her terrible treatment and how it was stolen from her and a legitimacy crisis that must be dealt with ASAP.
But the day after I got into Newsday I got a call from a friend of the same opponent whose friends have been in Claude Taylor’s ear.
And what did this person say? They played the classic Jeb Bush shock and awe play.
You should just drop out because she’s got this great organization and all these volunteers and you have no hope.
But the efforts of my opponent both the day after my campaign was made public AND in getting Claude Taylor to blackball the Mike Sax NY2 campaign don’t show confidence but the opposite.
If they’re this confident why not simply have a real primary for once in NY2? Maybe if we do that rather than a coronation we can have a different result come November 2018 vs Peter King.
One final word. I want to REASSURE all my readers and supporters-and I have lots of supporters and well wishers. Speak to them everyday. Just yesterday I spoke to some young people interested in volunteering for the Mike Sax NY2 campaign.
That I and the Mike Sax NY2 campaign are in it to win it. We are NOT in this for a participation trophy-we are NOT.
We need to defeat Peter King. But to get there let’s have a real primary for once not another coronation by professional politicians and professional activists.
P.S. I’m Mike Sax, I’m running for Congress in the NY 2nd District and I’m a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
Meeting her recently was one of the biggest honors in my life to stand next to such a fine public servant and trailblazer. She seemed to like our Impeachment Train campaign t shirts too!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate so we can compete with Peter King’s $4 million. I know no lobbyists or millionaires like Peter King. Small donations are the engine of the Mike Sax NY2 campaign. Together we can do it. Because we must.
