The Night After Franken Resigns, Trump is in Alabama Campaigning for Moore
Hello! I’m Mike Sax and I’m running for Congress in the NY2 District. If you agree we need a Democratic Congress to get to the bottom of what happened in Russia Please Donate.

Now let’s get to it:
Which kind of says it all about the difference between the two parties. While Democratic Senators throw Franken overboard without even an investigation-the same day Dems in the House voted overwhelmingly against impeaching Donald Trump-the RNC is spending money to elect accused pedophile Roy Moore and so-called President Trump is directly campaigning for him in Alabama.
“If Franken was set ablaze on the pyre of political expediency, Republicans busied themselves constructing monuments to denial and political self-mockery. No tortures of conscience for those who found Moore morally reprehensible but support him anyway.”
“Meanwhile, at least one Republican member of Congress accused of misconduct has been granted due process through an ethics investigation: Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas, who spent taxpayer money to settle a sexual harassment suit. Another Republican, Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona, who admitted to discussing surrogacy with two former staffers, resigned Friday.”
“In the game of righteous indignation, it would seem that Democrats are leading. Many of them may rather vote for a yellow dog than a Republican, but Republicans would seemingly rather vote for an accused child molester than let a Democrat enter the Senate chamber.”
Great. We’re leading in moral indignation. The GOP is laughing as Farenthold gets his day in court and the GOP stands by and campaigns for Roy Moore.
Ok, so McConnell says if Moore wins he gets an investigation. This may or may not be true-only time will tell. But even if he does that’s far more than Al Franken got. An accused pedophile will get-at worst-an investigation. Franken the accusations of which were much less serious-and may well have been fabricated-gets nothing.
Ok, but this was about drawing a line for American women-right? Sure, they sure are better off having a Roy Moore in the Senate who believes that giving women the vote was a mistake and is a pro life extremist as well as believing it’s ok to date a 14 year old girl-if you ask her Mother’s permission-than Al Franken who has been a strong advocate for progressive causes including women’s rights his entire career.
And now Franken’s seat is in danger of being lost to a GOPer in the future. We hear that it MUST go to a progressive woman. But it may well end up in the hands of an anti progressive Republican man.
Those who take pride that the Democrats ‘finally took the moral high ground’ refuse to see that in 2017 America there are no issues that transcend politics not even sexual harassment and assault.
They refuse to see that policy in this country-for the middle class, for the poor, for women-isn’t set by those who win the moral victories but by those who win the political victories.
“…It’s useful to look at how reforms played out on campus, where, unfortunately, many of the Obama administration’s good intentions went awry. Among the principles and polices that have become entrenched at schools—and are now spilling out into the wider world—are the beliefs that accusers are virtually always telling the truth; that the urgency to take action is more important than fair procedures; that we shouldn’t make distinctions between criminal acts and boorishness; and that predatory male behavior is ubiquitous. These beliefs have resulted in many campus cases in which the accused was treated with fundamental unfairness, spawning a legal subspecialty of suing schools on behalf of these young men. Examining what happened on campuses shows where the politics and social rules of interaction between the sexes might be headed—and how to avoid making the same mistakes on a larger scale.”
For my part I’m a liberal Democrat of the Center Left. My worry for our society in 2017 is that the happy medium never holds. It’s always one social extreme or the other. Which is what Russia likes to foment.
For instance in the whole furor over kneeling players, the Russians took out two types of Facebook ads:
1. Those fomenting the #TakeaKnee moveement
2. Those fomenting the #BoycottNFL movement.
In other words they deliberately sought to enflame both sides. Trump for his part did the same. The Sunday before his clumsy attacks on #TakeaKnee six NFL players kneeled during the national anthem.
The Sunday after: 200 did. Clearly then, if you really don’t like players kneeling during the anthem, the smartest move would have been:: to shut up and say or do nothing.
And it’s the same with #MeToo. Their agenda is right. Sexual assault and harassment are grave social evils that must be combatted and defeated.
However, there is a danger in going from the bad old days where a female accuser was presumed to be lying to one where she’s presumed to always be telling the truth.
This leaves us in an nether world where simply being accused makes you guilty and you just have to resign now!
Again the Center cannot hold.
We have the two extremes of Left and Right.
1. The Left wing position now is if someone is accused their guilty. Anything less than demanding resignation for the accused is akin to slut shaming.
2. The Right wing position is Ok so maybe he’s a pedophile. But he’s not a liberal so lets’ all vote for him.
The Right is happy however if the Left is governed by 1. It enables them to have it both ways as they clearly are now.
So far Harvey Weinstein’s career is destroyed. Ok, I agree rightfully so. But I also note that if Weinstein had been a GOP donor his career would not have been destroyed. That’s just a fact.
John Conyers and Al Franken forced to resign without a hearing.
The GOP: Trump is ‘President’. Roy Moore has at least a 50% chance at being a Senator. David Vitter-remember him?-has faced no sanction. Clarence Thomas-remember him?-occupies a position in the SJC that in many ways is more powerful than the Presidency itself.
But the Dems took the moral high ground so who cares-let the GOP predators and pedophiles run the government at least the Democratic party has shown it’s pure.
P.S. I’m Mike Sax, I’m running for Congress in the NY 2nd District and I’m a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
Meeting her recently was one of the biggest honors in my life to stand next to such a fine public servant and trailblazer. She seemed to like our Impeachment Train campaign t shirts too!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
