After Worst Tax Bill Since the Poor Laws We Need a Restraining Order Against the Republican Party
Hello! I’m Mike Sax and I’m running for Congress in the NY2 District. If you agree we need a Democratic Congress to get to the bottom of what happened in Russia Please Donate.

Now let’s get to it:
Democrats are calling this the worst piece of legislation they’ve seen in their careers. It’s actually the worst piece of legislation since the poor laws. It IS the biggest corporate tax cut in U.S. history and it’s being paid for by a huge tax increase on most Americans, by eliminating SALT-the state and local tax deduction and by ending the ACA mandate.
Yes, they do raise the standard deduction but this will disappear by 2025 while the corporate tax cuts, mandate repeal and end of SALT is permanent.
I've created new charts that show just what an enormous giveaway to the rich the Trump GOP tax plan really is.
They use Tax Policy Center data.

It’s a highly regressive piece of legislation-as much as an ACA repeal bill as a tax bill; the GOP figured out how to end Obamacare: call it ‘tax reform-that only gets more regressive with time.
My opponent for U.S. Congress in NY2, 25 year incumbent Peter King, is making heavy weather that he voted against the bill.
I voted against tax bill. The $10K SALT cap is not enough for most LIers & will devalue our homes by 10-15%. While most of the country will get tax cut, it will be paid for by LIers who will get a tax increase. I will continue the fight to correct & change after it becomes law.

Sure he nominally did-while being fully aware that it would pass anyway. He did vote for ACA repeal last Spring and has said he’s in basic agreement with the bill. And you suspect that Paul Ryan had a deal with him and other blue state GOPers. He probably told Ryan: ‘Don’t worry, if you need me to I can vote for it’ and Ryan was like ‘No, don’t worry about it Peter, I’ve got the votes to give you guys cover.’
No one really believes King and other blue state Republicans did very much to stop the bill. Even the Market Monetarist Scott Sumner-a libertarian who largely likes the bill-can see they did very little to stop it.
“Why didn’t blue state Republicans object more to the SALT deduction limit? They were bought off with a reduction in the top rate from 43.4% to 40.8% (wrongly reported by the media as 39.6% to 37%) It seems like blue state Republicans care more about affluent Republicans than they do about the states they live in. After all, the cut in the top rate won’t in any way discourage people from moving out of New York and California, rather it will simply prevent wealthy taxpayers from being noticeably worse off.”
“In other words, individual Orange County professionals (my neighbors) will be fine. The state government of California may not be fine.”
Then you have Susan Collins absurd and outrageous attempt to claim sexist discrimination because people are pointing out she may not even get the concessions she was promised in exchange for voting for this awful, bad, very bad, no good fake tax reform bill.
I live in Maine and I'm a lumberjack. Because of your no vote on the #GOPTaxBillScam my taxes will go up & I will likely lose my health insurance.
You are a disgrace to the people of Maine. Time to come back to Maine & face your constituents. #mepolitics

All of this should drive home one central point: we need a restraining order from the Republican party. Our healthcare system does. Our state governments do. The nonrich certainly do. And our national security and the integrity of our election system itself clearly does-with the GOP obstructing the Russia investigation.
King is totally in on that too as he’s now leading the fake Uranium One scandal.
If there is anything I wish people today could unlearn it’s the idea that the party doesn’t matter, what matters are the idiosyncrasies of individual candidates are what matters.
But in truth you have a much better predictor of how a politician will vote based on their party than any individual idiosyncrasies. If that HAD been understood, all these foolish progressives would not have helped elect Donald Trump.
P.S. I’m Mike Sax, I’m running for Congress in the NY 2nd District and I’m a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
Meeting her recently was one of the biggest honors in my life to stand next to such a fine public servant and trailblazer. She seemed to like our Impeachment Train campaign t shirts too!
Think of the shirt as a one time investment in restoring legitimacy to this country.
And please donate so we can compete with Peter King’s $4 million. I know no lobbyists or millionaires like Peter King. Small donations are the engine of the Mike Sax NY2 campaign. Together we can do it. Because we must.
